TSIAA Tournaments, 5/5-5/10

Elementary Fun Day, 5/9

Just a quick reminder that the Walkathon Elementary Fun Day has been changed to tomorrow, May 9th. So if your preschooler through 6th grader raised $50, they will be able to participate in the 2 hour carnival and if they raised $100, they will be allowed to participate in the fun for 4 hours. Which means they should sleep really really well Friday night and let you sleep in on Saturday. Maybe. Unless they're anything like I was growing up. I didn't start sleeping through the night until I was eleven...Yes. I, too, wonder how I survived to adulthood.

Merit Day, 5/13

If your 7th-11th grader comes home and says that they don't have to go to school on the 13th of next week, they may be telling the truth. If your 7th-11th grader has less  than 10 demerits for the 2nd semester, they do not have to attend school on the 13th.

So if they're close, you can use that as a motivational tool to keep them super focused. I mean, who wouldn't want an extra day off of school?!

MS Awards, 5/17

Ok, if you have a Middle School student or students, this article is for you. The Middle School Awards Program for 7th-9th graders will be Saturday, May 17th from 6:00-7:30 pm in the church auditorium.

These awards are for those students who play in Middle School sports, were part of Middle School Choir, or Middle School Handbells. These will also include awards for Fine Arts for 7th-9th grade students.

Middle school academics are not included at this program because those awards will be handed out at the Gala.

Exam Review Days, 5/14-5/16

Ok so this one is important. Well, all the articles are important, but seriously, this one needs you to pay it some attention. Please try as hard as you can to have your 7th-11th grader here at school May 14th through the 16th. These days are set aside for teachers to go over notes and methods and all kinds of things to prepare your student to be successful in their exams. They may not agree with me, but they won't want to miss all the details and all the things.

Exams, 5/19-5/22

Can you believe it? We are so close to the end of the year that we're talking about exams. I don't know about you, but that just thrills my little soul. Not going to lie, as much as I love my job, I sure do look forward to summer vacation. There's just something about being able to pack up and visit the beach for a week or weekend. So relaxing!

Here's the 2025 2nd Semester Exam schedule for your viewing pleasure and planning purposes.

Gala, 5/22

Gala. That wonderful time of year when people get to dress up, eat a fancy dinner, make memories, and see all the awards. It's such a good time and an excellent way to wrap up the school year.

If you haven't gotten your tickets yet, (available in the high school office) you really do want to get that done before you're relegated to the back forty and feel as though you're not a part of the festivities.

$42 for students and their parents, $57 for everyone else.

Teacher Appreciation Wrap Up

Thank you to everyone who made a point to stop by the gym lobby and leave their teacher a little note. It's just crazy to me how easy it is to make someone's day better just by being nice.

If you haven't had a chance to stop by the tiny little table in the gym lobby, tomorrow is your last day to do so. Really. Just a quick thank you can really take a bad day and turn it into a good day.

We appreciate each of you for participating in this quick and easy way to be a blessing to our teachers.

TACS State Tournament Results

Another school year of sports is just about wrapped up. If you've been here on campus, I'm sure you've noticed there have been quite a few different games being played all at the same time. In fact, some of you have probably had a game or two switched around because of weather.

First, thank you for being here. It's a great way to boost team morale and show your support for our school.

Second, join us as we congratulate our teams on another year well-played...

Girls Soccer won the State Championship, with Lakelyn and Bryleigh Dempsey being named All-Tournament and Grace Avery took the MVP spot.

Boys Baseball also won the State Championship, with Luke Skordinski and Drew Bryant being named All-Tournament and Ben Walker walking away with the MVP.

Y'all did great, congratulations!

Walkathon Pledges Due

I know, I know, you're tired of hearing about Walkathon. I get it. But I just wanted to swing in here and mention that if you haven't gotten your pledges turned in yet, please do so as soon as possible. And again. Thank you so much for supporting this year's Walkathon - FRCS truly has the best parents in the entire state of Tennessee.

Out And About FRCS

For Silly's Sake

  1. Why did the cactus giggle? because it was pricklish
  2. What does a lion use to check his hair? a mir-roar
  3. Why did the poodle turn on the air conditioning? so she wouldn't be a hot dog
  4. How do you find spider man? search the web
  5. What did the mama bird say when her babies hatched? flappy birthday
  6. What do Olympic runners use to check their email? the sprinter net
  7. What do swamp creatures eat for dessert? marsh mallows
  8. What kind of fish fixes musical instruments? a piano tuna
  9. Why did the baseball player leave the stadium? his coach told him to run home
  10. How does the ocean say hello? it doesn't. It just waves.
  11. Did you know that it is rumored that Attila the Hun was very short? In fact, some have said he was a dwarf. I find that extremely interesting.
  12. Know who else was short? Of course, Napoleon was reported to be 5'6" but Aesop and Charles III of Naples were all shorter than...three and a half feet tall! I'm definitely taller than that.
  13. I'm sure you're aware that our national bird is the eagle, but there was one person who wanted it to be the turkey instead. That famous person? Benjamin Franklin.
  14. Not only did he like turkeys, but Benjamin Franklin was an author, scientist, inventor, and publisher as well as other things. But one thing he was not allowed to do? Write the Declaration of Independence by himself. Why? Because apparently, his peers were afraid he would hide a joke in it. Kind of makes me wonder if he had, if more people would read it. Just a thought.

It felt like it barely even started before it was already over. But, no use crying over the inevitable. School had to restart so right now seems like as good a time as any. So welcome back to the returning students - we missed you. School just isn't the same when y'all aren't here. And welcome to the new students - we cannot wait to make your acquaintance and get to know you better. I hope your week - and your student's week - was excellent. If it wasn't, well, I hope it was mostly good. Of course, there were some kinks along the way and that elementary secretary seemed a little scratchy at times (I'm so very sorry. I hate being scratchy and I am determined t...
