Walkathon is here. Well, not actually today, but on Monday, yea. If you drive by the school on your way to get donuts or coffee from that new Dutch Bros down the street (I totally will be trying some soon) and you see a bunch of students walking around the parking lot, do not panic. Everything is under control and we have not lost our mind. Well maybe some of us have, but I'm already aware I'm on that list so we need to move along.
We're just raising money for security enhancements for the school and we're doing it with style, laughter and fun. Seriously. Even in the rain, walkathon is fun.
- Students who are participating will be allowed to wear PE clothes - they will need to bring a set of school dress code clothes to change into once walkathon is complete.
- Festivities start at 8:30. If you'd like to walk with your student, you're more than welcome to do so with a $25 donation.
- You can sponsor a student per lap or with a one time donation, or not at all. Completely up to you.
- Business sponsorships are welcomed. For more information, click this link to read all the details.
Any questions? Call the office and we'll do our best to answer them.
TACS State Tournaments, 5/1-5/3
Did you see the title? The one that had the dates of May 1st through the 3rd? Two things I'd like to say here.
1. We will be hosting the TACS State Tournaments for Girls Soccer, Baseball, and Softball here at FRCS. Come on out and watch these kids knock it out of the park. Make some memories, have some fun, and just thoroughly enjoy yourselves!
2. We're literally talking about something that is happening in May. You know. The month that school lets out for the summer. How in the world did this year go by so stinking fast? I'm not going to lie though. Once we hit the month of March, I was counting down. I do love my job, but I sure do love summer stuff as well!
With that being said, make sure to swing by and have a blast as we start wrapping up another school year.
Lost & Found Sale, 4/30-5/2
Wednesday, April 30th through May 2nd, we will be having the next to last lost & found sale. This might be your last chance to find that old tupperware lid you've been looking for a month, or that belt you know you purchased at the beginning of school, or maybe even that one shoe that has proven to be less than easy to find but you're positive you sent your child into school with two. I'm telling you, I think locating bigfoot could be easier than finding that one shoe.
Items are only $1 so make sure to swing by the tables and see what's out there next Wednesday through Friday.
Spiritwear Sale - last days!
We have definitely entered the 'lasts' of the school year. The last month. The last tests. The last hurrahs. You know. The lasts. Those days that we won't get back are here. But before we close the door on another school year, be sure to stop by the office and see what we have left for spiritwear. Every year we have something different, so this is your last chance to get these styles. So let us help you not have to wash your student's hoodie four times a week throughout the next school year. Splurge and get two. You can't beat the price.
40% off won't last forever. See something you like but the size isn't out on the rack? Come talk to me. I know a guy...
Last Senior Sundae Brownie Sale, 5/2
Here we go again. That whole lasts thing. May 2nd will be the Seniors last Brownie Sundae on Friday sale. So this will be your last chance to support the 12th graders with that ooey gooey chocolatey goodness. Yes. This is a problem for me. I try so hard to be a good girl, but last time, I fell. I couldn't help it and I should regret it, but I don't. I will be getting some for myself and you can't make me feel bad about it either.
Out and About FRCS
101 Random
- If you were to come into my office and ask me what my favorite animal is, you'd probably think you knew the answer. A cat. But here's the thing. I like so many animals that it's difficult to give a definite answer. I love cats, it's true. But I love dogs. And kangaroos. And PANDAS, oh the pandas. Can't forget the otters because yes, if someone said yes, I'd probably have several. So you see, it gets difficult. One animal that I love, yes seriously love, find fascinating, and could watch videos of all day would be...elephants. Perhaps I can volunteer to work with elephants after I graduate from working full-time. Ponder this, I will.
- Did you know elephants cannot jump? Which makes it rather difficult for them when they fall. Baby elephants seem to be a bit clumsy (but oh so adorable) and often slip, slide, or fall into small ditches. The mother elephant, with her posse of elephant friends, will coax and kind of pull that baby up back to safety. How cute is that?! Talk about bearing one another's burdens.
- It's a myth that elephants don't like mice. This particular myth actually dates back as far as AD 77 and I'm not sure why or how it began. I have heard though, that they do not like bees. Which brings me to the next point.
- Wrinkly elephant skin is an inch thick in places which helps keep them cool. And that makes me wonder why they don't like bees. How do we know they don't like bees? Do they dance around and swat at them when they're buzzing around the elephant's head? I need to know!
- I've read that they can hold up to 2 gallons of water in their trunk and will use those trunks as snorkels when necessary. As well as squirt guns.
- Most elephants that you see in zoos, working, or in circuses are female. No it's not that the male elephant is lazy and expects his woman to do everything for him, it's actually a bit more difficult to control the males because they're more aggressive. Which is totally understandable.
- I've also read that because they don't have thumbs, some baby elephants suck their trunk for comfort. How. CUTE. Is that?!? If you ever see a baby elephant sucking its trunk, you need to call me or video it and send it to me because I need to see this at least once before I die. Yes. It's on my bucket list. However, the good news is, I have been able to cross off the 'see an ostrich lay an egg' off my list because I've seen it happen. In real life. Husband didn't believe me and left me at the ostrich enclosure - also leaving me with bragging rights and a lifetime of 'I told you so' to bless him with. Until death do us part. One of the many perks of being married, I guess.
