End of 3rd Quarter, 3/12
I feel like I should be holding a cardboard sign up on the school patio that says "The end is nigh...the end is nigh..." Maybe that would get everyone's attention.
So just in case you haven't noticed it, we're rounding the bend for the 3rd quarter and about to start the 4th. 3rd quarter ends March 12th. Report cards will be sent home for Kindergarten through 6th graders, and will be emailed for 7th-12th graders on March 18th.
The end truly is nigh.
Spring Concert, 3/24
If you're curious as to what exactly FRCS will be competing in for Fine Arts March 27th and 28th, you should totally stop by the church auditorium on March 24th to get a fabulous preview. Seriously. It's worth it. Come early so you can look at the artwork in the foyer and get a good spot to sit. Doors open at 6:30 and the concert begins at 7:00 pm. Bring a friend and a camera.
Fine Arts Competition, 3/27-3/28
You know how the above article mentioned that students will be performing on the 24th? You do? Look at you paying attention to all the words! You earned a gold star. That Spring Concert is a test run for this. This right here. The Fine Arts Competition. Yes. The one which will be held on the 27th and 28th of March here at FRCS.
Anyway, this is how things will work. Please pay attention and read all the words because this can get confusing. Ahem. I shall begin.
- Kindergarten through 2nd grade will not have school. Don't send them.
- Preschool is open. Send them.
- Any student (3rd grade through 12th grade) who has made it to State Fine Arts needs to be at FRCS ready to perform at their allotted time. You should have gotten an email. Or will get an email. Don't panic. Please don't panic. You panic then I panic and we all panic and no one survives. Remain calm and carry on. This could turn into a very serious situation if we all panic.
- If you have questions - not the email question because remember, we're not panicking - please ask it. It may take a day or two (especially if you ask me because sometimes I just don't know and I have to hunt down the person who does know, so I must remind you not to panic.) We will do our very best to answer your questions in a timely manner.
Spring Break, 3/31-4/4
...and again, if you read the above article and looked at a calendar, you'll notice that if your student did not make it to state, or they're in Kindergarten through 2nd grade, you don't have to come to school on those days. So your Spring Break could actually be from March 27th - April 4th, with a return to responsibilities on April 7th. At 8 am. It will be a normal class with a full day on April 7th. So assume all the things that might be forgotten will be and take steps to avoid the calamity of thirteen phone calls in a five minute period from your child.
However, lest we get confused, let me explain it with bullet points.
- Spring Break officially begins March 31st
- Spring Break ends April 4th
- School resumes April 7th and yes, it's a full return to our regularly scheduled program
Spring Sports Forms
Did you get them in? All those sports forms we needed for your athlete to participate in their upcoming game? Yes? Excellent! No? We need those. Probably yesterday. So please send them in. I thank you. The coaches thank you. The team thanks you. And your athlete thanks you.
You're amazing.
Spirit Wear Sale
Yes. It's still going on. It will continue going on until we run out of spiritwear. Lucky for you. If you see something you like but need a different size, ask me. I'll see if I have what you need. 40% off is a very good deal that you do not want to miss.

And now we come to the part of the parent page where you don't have to read or listen anymore. Unless you too are addicted to useless information that will not help you do your job better. Well maybe it will. I have no idea what you're doing at the moment, so if this helps you, bonus for both of us.
- Did you know that honey, yes that super sweet yummilicious stuff that bees protect with their lives if necessary, is sweeter than sugar? No? Well now you do. Not only is it sweeter, it has vitamins and minerals in it which makes it healthier as well.
- If honey is stored properly - in a jar with a sealed lid - it can last for an indefinite period of time. Yes. Indefinite. Which means it could go on and on and on and on for years.
- If your honey has crystalized, don't throw it away. It's still good. It just means it has separated from the natural water found in it. Just scoop out a teaspoon of the honey crystals and incorporate into your tea or coffee and enjoy.
- The darker the honey the higher it is in antioxidants. Good to know for those of us who like those little anti-oxidant-thing-a-ma-jiggers to help our bodies fight off bad thingys.
- Because it is naturally anti-bacterial, it can be used to treat scrapes, cuts, infections, and even ulcers. So, next time you catch your child squirting honey into a teaspoon (because they would never, ever squirt it directly into their mouths because that is wrong on so many levels) don't fuss. They might have a scrape somewhere.
- It turns out that honey protects teeth from tooth decay. How cool is that?!
- One last thing. Stingless bees, Mexican Honey Wasps, bumblebees, some paper wasps, and even some ants also make honey.
I think I'll just stick to the honey I'm familiar with. In fact, think I'll go make myself a nice cup of peppermint tea. Or maybe chamomile. Oh wait. Tension Tamer is sounding pretty good. It is the middle of the week, after all. :)
