  • Cuvier's beaked whales can hold their breath for 2 hours. Here's the thing. 1. Whales have beaks?! Never have I ever heard of a beaked whale and now I have a new thing to put on my bucket list. 2. Who watched that beaky whale hold its breath  and how do they know it was the same whale they started with? Did they not blink for 2 hours? Did the whale swim in one spot so they could watch them?
  • I have heard that penicillin was originally called 'mold juice'. This is one of those instances where a new name was definitely needed. Can you imagine your doctor coming in and saying "you're sick, but don't worry. We have mold juice." I don't believe it would be a very popular remedy, if we're being honest.
  • Apparently, all mammals get goosebumps. Where I read this did not say, almost all, or nearly all, but all. As in all of them. You know what's coming next. Who looked at every single mammal and checked the box for goosebumps? And how did they give those animals the goosebumps? If anyone knows if there's a goosebump giver position for panda bears, would you let me know?

I didn't see very many wet eyes Monday morning, I didn't hear screaming and gnashing of teeth (yes, I'm talking about parents), and I didn't have a bunch of kiddos in my office asking for medicine at 8:05. I'd say that was a win win and another win for the start of a new school year! But, as with anything new, it can take just a little bit to settle into a routine. And ...
