Pink Out, 10/4
October is Cancer Awareness month and we here at FRCS would like to invite everyone to join us for a Pink Out at this Friday's Varsity Volleyball game against Zion Christian. So think pink and show your style Friday. Game starts at 5:00. Pink glasses, pink shirts, pink skirts, pink shoes, pink, pink, pink. What do you get if you wear pink to the game?
A free Homework Pass. And Yes. You can wear your pink all day at school on Friday. 8^)
Abby Candle Fundraiser, 10/7-10/28
It is officially fall. Which means there are storms, wind, rain, ugly weather, sweater weather, and shorts weather here in Middle Tennessee. All in one day. In other words, it's the perfect time to have an Abby Candle fundraiser for the Junior class. I mean think about it. You lose power, you could have a fantastic smelling candle at the ready. See? Double duty. You support a Junior for their trip to Washington D.C. and you have made preparations for an emergency. Win-win. Next time your hubby asks why another candle, you just let him know he will thank you for being a candle junky when all the power goes out.
- no, you are not required to participate but will be a blessing if you do
- starts 10/7
- orders are due back 10/28
- yes, you can order online at abbycandles.com
- and, if you don't have a particular student in mind, you can use 75558 as the id number and Franklin Road Christian School Jr. Class as the Organization. Easy peasy!
End of the 1st Quarter, 10/11
What exactly does it mean when I say "End of 1st Quarter" is October 11th? This is a signal to your student that they have, or will have, finished 1/4th of the school year. While it may not seem earth shattering right now, it really is if you think about it.
- For a senior, they only have 3/4's of the school year left. Before the chapter closes and they begin a new one.
- For a Kindergartner, it means they have made it through 9 weeks of school and have learned so very much that they probably think their brains are going to fall out any moment.
- For a 6th grader, it means they're 1/4 of the way closer to not being in Upper Elementary any more.
I'm sure you see the magnitude now. But also think of it this way. You're only 1/4 of the way into the year. A perfect time to catch any little issues that need attention. A perfect time to make sure all homework, tests, and quizzes have been completed and turned in before your student gets overwhelmed and just gives up.
A perfect time to reach out to the teachers and see if they notice anything that needs attention.
There's so many different ways to take this and use it for your benefit.
Speaking of taking something and using it for your benefit, let's talk about Parent Teacher Conferences. These nifty little things are excellent tools for parents and teachers to chat and discuss things. To make a game plan together. To conspire, if you will.
Not in a negative way. In a totally, we got each other's back kind of way.
Please reach out to your student's teacher to schedule your conference today. The best time slots go first so the early bird gets the worm. But it's the second mouse that gets the cheese, so don't panic if someone was there before you. There's always a silver lining.
It is not coincidence that students don't have to come to school on the 21st. We want parents to not feel pressured and feel comfortable talking to teachers about their kids grades. Or what they could work on to be better. Or that the teacher thinks your child is absolutely perfect and wouldn't change a thing about them. Not even a smidge.
So no. Don't bring them to your appointment. Let them stay home. If they have nothing to worry about, everything will be fine. If they're concerned you might hear something they don't want you to hear, you may come home to an immaculately clean house. See? Another win-win.
Memories in the Making
Look who made a guest appearance at our TACS Teacher Convention last Friday! We were excited to have Governor Bill Lee show up and share his testimony with us as well as encourage the teachers. It truly is humbling and a blessing to see God's hand working in the lives of others.
