Re-Enrollment
I know, I know, you've already read about re-enrollment. But this is the time of year when I have to sound like a broken record to remind you not to wait to pay those registration fees if you're going to come back next year. (If that isn't your plan, please feel free to skip to the next article.)
After some interesting questions, I think it would behoove me to try to explain the procedure of re-enrollment. (If you already know what's going on, again, feel free to skip ahead.)
The main gist of the matter is this. If you are currently enrolled and pay registration fees before February 15th, you should be completely fine. We just don't want you to assume you have until the end of February and your spot will still be secure. That's not the case.
- February 1-14 - open to current FRCS families - best to pay before the 15th to secure your spot
- February 15-29 - open to siblings of FRCS families - many of whom have already paid their fees, but they will not be applied to a vacancy until the 15th
Spots are given according to the registration paid date. FRCS families first, FRCS siblings on the 15th. I really hope that makes sense and helps answer some questions.
Enrollment opens to the public March 1st.
Parent Alert
I hope you enjoyed your unexpected winter break last week! I know I did, but if I'm being honest, I was super glad to get back to work. I missed you guys. If you did not receive a Parent Alert last week on your cell phone, please notify the office so we can fix the issue. It is imperative that we are able to communicate with you should any important issues arise. I mean, c'mon. It is only January. There's still a lot of time left for more snow.
Spring Pictures, 1/30-1/31
While we all enjoyed the break, we did have to reschedule our spring pictures to January 30th and 31st. These are optional photos, no one is required to purchase these, but take it from me. I really wish I had taken a lot more pictures of my kiddos when they were little. I have forgotten so much. Ugh. Guess I'll have to start with the grandkids...drat ;)
District Fine Arts Competition, 2/1-2/2
Next Thursday and Friday, the winners of Local Fine Arts will be representing us at HCA in Hendersonville. Times and bus schedule information to follow.
Order A Valentine, 2/9
It happens every single year and I do not know why I struggle with this. Valentine's Day is always difficult for me. Not because I'm a Vday Scrooge or hate it, but I get busy. And then sidetracked. A lot. Every year, I tell myself I'm going to do so much better and get this done early, and wham. Next thing I know, tomorrow is Valentine's Day and hubster is getting another homemade card and meal. Again. I need to set an early reminder or something.
The FRCS cheerleaders are making it easy for you.

Congratulations, Noah Pence!
For all of you who love to see kids succeed and do well, here's a shoutout to Noah Pence scoring his 1500th point this past weekend! That's awesome and we're super proud of you, Noah - great job!

Valentine's Little Known Facts
- Ever wonder how X became associated with a kiss? During the Middle Ages, the X came to represent Christianity, or the cross. It was also used to sign official documents. Once finished, the signor would 'kiss' the X, thus becoming the X we use today.
- In Verona, Italy, thousands of people write letters to Juliet, the ill-fated 'heroine' of the tragedy Romeo and Juliet and stick them in a particular wall. Apparently, the city marks the spot of where this story happened. OCD and need a happy ending? You're in luck. There is a team of volunteers who write responses back.
- Richard Cadbury was the genius who started the tradition of giving chocolates on Valentine's Day. This rather enterprising man, came up with a new technique to create more varieties of chocolate, and, obviously having a significant other who loved that he worked at a chocolate factory, the tradition has hung on ever since.
