Thanksgiving Luncheon, 11/21

Thanksgiving Luncheon is less than a week away. Have you purchased your tickets? Invited Granny and Gramps, Uncles and Aunts to come? Prepared your elementary student's Pilgrim and/or Indian costume for them to wow the crowd? If you haven't, time is almost out! Here's what you need to know:

  • Tickets can be purchased at the door. Not recommended, but available.
  • Preschool through 6th graders are encouraged to dress up as Pilgrims and/or Indians
  • Lunch is from 11-1, feel free to come at any time during those hours. We will call your student(s) out for you
  • Your student is allowed to go home afterward, but we need to know in advance. Please fill out and return the handy-dandy form below to the teacher or the elementary office.

Half Day, 11/22

Wednesday, November 22nd, will be a half day. Which means school will be dismissed at 11:30 and there will be no late stay whatsoever. As in none.

(If you're free Tuesday night at 7:00, come join us for our annual Thanksgiving Praise service in the church auditorium. This will take the place of our weekly Wednesday night service.)

Thanksgiving Break, 11/23-11/24

Of course, there will be no school Thursday and Friday in observance of Thanksgiving. (cue loud cheering here.) School will resume Monday at our regularly scheduled time. (That's 8:00 am.) It will be a full day. (That's 3:00 pm.)

Christmas Project

Every year around Christmas time, FRCS raises money to go toward a worthy cause/organization. This year, we are raising money for B&L Literature Foundation in Shelbyville to purchase paper to print Bibles. Our upper grade students will also have a chance to visit B&L and collate Bibles, (which I personally have always enjoyed. Get all your steps in while putting together a Bible? I call that a win-win.) We hope you will join us in this unique opportunity to help spread the Good News around the world.

Last day to donate is December 15th!

Lost & Found Sale, 11/29-12/1

I don't know how they do it, but those lost & found bins are a sight to behold. Oh my goodness if we don't have a sale soon we run the risk of losing small to medium children. Please stop by the tables and see what's out there. Who knows? You might find the cutest pair of Crocs you've ever seen. (said no one ever. Just kidding.)

Speaking of lost & found. Here are a few things that have been turned into the office. Do you see anything that's yours? Please come by and pick it up. These items will be inside my office and not on the table for sale.

Coming Up Next...

  • Elementary Christmas Program - 12/5
  • MS/HS Christmas Program - 12/7
  • Spirit of Christmas at FRBC - 12/10

Did You Know?

  • Sharks cannot blink, or sharks can only survive in salt water? Sharks cannot blink
  • Some ants make themselves explode when attacked or ants won't cross a line drawn in chalk? They make themselves explode when they're attacked.
  • Gorillas burp when they are happy or gorillas sneeze when they're angry? Gorillas burp when they're happy.
  • Humans have a better sense of smell when it is dry outside or some rats are trained to sniff out bombs? Surprisingly, some rats are trained to sniff out bombs. Pretty cool! In a creepy way.
  • Henry Ford invented the automobile or traffic lights were invented before cars? (I so got this one wrong.) Traffic lights were invented before cars. Which begs the question: what were they used for?!

Can You Answer?

  • How many feet can a cobra spit venom?
  • Which is bigger - the tallest U.S. president Abraham Lincoln, or President Lincoln's nose on Mount Rushmore?
  • Which is true - Ostriches will headbutt each other when threatened or ostriches can swim, but they cannot fly.
  • How many pounds of bamboo do you think a panda eats every day?
  • Which is true - the Pacific beetle cockroach produces milk or iguanas are the only reptiles that produce milk. (I know the answer, but I really think both sound absolutely disgusting. I pray we never EVER see cockroach/iguana milk in Kroger.)
Answers will be in next week's Parent Page!

Voucher Time 5/15 12:00 noon No, it is not Thursday. No I have not lost my mind (fooled you!), and no. I'm not trying to rush things. Just wanted to send out this week's Parent Page today (Wednesday) to give everyone a quick reminder that... Tomorrow is the day the EFS applications roll-out. 12:00 noon is the time, so please, have all your documents uploaded and stored on your computer for ease of access because as soon as the clock tolls 12, things may get congested and a little bit laggish. Good luck and we wish you the best.  Oh yea. Here's the link. So Many Things, 5/17-5/23 I apologize in advance for the length of this week's Parent Page. I didn't see very many wet eyes Monday morning, I didn't hear screaming and gnashing of teeth (yes, I'm talking about parents), and I didn't have a bunch of kiddos in my office asking for medicine at 8:05. I'd say that was a win win and another win for the start of a new school year! But, as with anything new, it can take just a little bit to settle into a routine. And ...
