A Word of Caution

You should have gotten an email regarding the new six lane highway in front of the school. As a reminder, please do not cross on-coming traffic when you leave the premises. If you must go across on-coming traffic, we ask that you make your way down to Gresham Lane and use the light. We want to keep you as safe as possible. Thank you!

Monday, No School

Just in case you were wondering, Monday is Labor Day which means you need to keep your children at home and make memories with them. They won't be around forever. School will resume on Tuesday, 9/5 and it will be a full day.

Smart Cards Due Tomorrow, 9/1

Smart card money and any unsold cards are due tomorrow. Please bring them by the elementary office so we can divvy up the prizes. Thank you so much for participating in this year's sale. We certainly appreciate all your hard work.

New Parent Meeting, 9/5

Tuesday night at 7 pm, there will be a new parent meeting in the church auditorium. This meeting will only take a few minutes. Afterward, you will have an opportunity to meet with your child's teacher and ask any questions you may have. See you there!
  • Juniors, you will be meeting at 5:30 in the choir room
  • Seniors, you will be meeting at 6:00 in the teen room

Grandparents' Day, 9/8

Every year we have the cutest program showcasing Middle Tennessee's cutest kids. You're invited to enjoy the program Friday, September 8th at 10:00 am. As an added bonus, Grandparents, you're more than welcome to take your preschool - 6th grade grandchild out to lunch and keep them the rest of the day if you so desire. (Parents, you're welcome to take the place of a missing grandparent and take your child.) Please fill out the form below and return to your child's teacher.

Grandparents' Day Permission Slip

Please fill out this form and either return to the teacher or bring it to the elementary office. We need an accurate count of who will be at school and who will not be. This is for Preschool through 6th graders only. 7th-12th graders have their own special day to not be at school. It's called Merit Day. We'll talk about that later.

Lost & Found

Next week, Wednesday through Friday, we will be having our first lost & found sale of school year 2023-2024. Please look through the bins now and find your lost items because once it hits the table, it's fair game and it will cost you $1 to get it back.

101 Random

  • I've read that snails can sleep up to 3 years. Must be so hard. Ugh. Excuse me while I sit over here a sulk because I can't.
  • Did you know that elephants are the only animals that cannot jump? I have to admit - I've see quite a few animals jump. Cats, dogs, squirrels, chickens, spiders (that was a bad day and screaming was involved) and the list goes on. But I have never seen an elephant jump. Guess I have to take their word on that.
  • Have a sweet tooth but dislike having to eat it all in one sitting so it doesn't spoil? (Please tell me I'm not the only one who used that excuse to convince others that I most certainly was not oinking out.) I have good news for you. Honey doesn't spoil. It just turns grainy like sugar, but is still very, very delicious.
  • Interesting fact - all the continents end with the same letter they start with. Yes. I had to google that to make sure it was correct.
  • The next time your husband mentions how much clothes you have, just tell him that Elizabeth I of Russia had 15,000 dresses by the time she died. I'm positive that'll make things a little quieter.

As of today, over $110,000 has been raised to better our school's locker rooms and playgrounds. Your generosity has helped and will continue to help FRCS be a better place for years to come. And a special shoutout goes to our special sponsors below: Baseball Tournament Results If you missed it, you missed some fun baseball games last week! FRCS won the TACS State Title for 2024;  All Tournament goes to Brix Wisdom and Mason Alcorn, while the MVP was Benjamin Walker. Congratulations y'all, thank you for a great season! Gala For real, please don't wait any longer. If you're planning on attending Gala and haven't gotten your tickets, please do so as soon as possible in the high school office. I didn't see very many wet eyes Monday morning, I didn't hear screaming and gnashing of teeth (yes, I'm talking about parents), and I didn't have a bunch of kiddos in my office asking for medicine at 8:05. I'd say that was a win win and another win for the start of a new school year! But, as with anything new, it can take just a little bit to settle into a routine. And ...
