Spring Concert, 3/20 @ 7:00 pm

They've had a year to work on things and they're itching to show you how they've improved. Come prepared to enjoy yourself on March 20th at 7:00 p.m. in the church auditorium. Make sure you have your cameras because you won't want to miss it.

  • Students, please be here at your assigned places no later than 6:45.
  • MS & HS attire will be competition dress.
  • Elementary, please wear spring colors, Sunday best attire. Please no jeans or tennis shoes.

By the way. Have you wondered what exactly has made it to this year's State Fine Arts competition? So glad you asked. Well, maybe not out loud, but let's assume you were going to and I just jumped in there to make everything easier. Anyway. You're in for a treat. This year's Fine Arts winners will have their items displayed in the Gatheria for your enjoyment.

We do ask that you don't touch, sit, or attempt to wear (or carry off) any of the items as they do need to be in excellent condition so they can progress to Nationals. We thank you in advance for your help.

TACS State Competition, 3/23-3/24

I kind of feel that you already knew that this was coming up because you read the above article. Right? You did, didn't you? Geesh people, go back and read it please. It's important and typically will answer quite a few of your questions so you won't have to call the office and ask. Which, incidentally, lets me know that you did not read this week's Parent Page.

There will be no school for K5-12th grades on March 23rd and 24th with the only caveat being...that if you're participating in Fine Arts, you will be in your place and ready to go at your scheduled time. Does that make sense?

If you're playing a flute solo in Fine Arts and you are in 4th grade and your scheduled time is 1:00, that means you will be warmed up and ready to play at 1:00. Right on the dot. Not a second before or after.

Now. For all you preschool parents that are wondering what you're going to do with your preschooler. Don't fret. Preschool will be open and late stay will be available the 23rd and 24th.

I hope you read every word in the above article. There will be a test on this material.

Spring Break, 3/27-3/31

We've done all the things so far this year. We've had Fall Break, Thanksgiving Break, Christmas Break, and now we're heading toward Spring Break.

There will be absolutely no school March 27th through 31st. School will resume April 3rd. Which means, you need to be in your seat and ready to go at 8:00 Monday morning with a snack ready and waiting.

Why do you need to bring a snack? Read on. There's more...

Achievement Testing

I know that we will be coming right out of Spring Break and will all probably be staying up way late into the evening, even past 9:00 pm (which is really pushing it), but you need to go to bed early on April 2nd. The next day we will be starting Achievement Testing for the week.

You will want:

  • a nice snack. Please make it a nice snack. Nothing like an entire pizza, please. That's dinner not a snack and will most likely cause many to covet a piece of pizza. Not good.
  • No. 2 pencils, sharpened and ready to go with erasers intact. Because we all know that you need a good eraser to completely erase any of those nasty little bubbles. Yes, those ones that make your hand cramp for hours after you're finished for the day. We don't want that machine to read the wrong answer. Again, not good.
  • plenty of sleep the night before. So you'll probably want to be in bed by, oh I don't know, 7:00?

Oh yeah, one more thing. There are no excused absences that week.

Good luck to you all!

Trivia You Probably Don't Know

  • What is the driest place on earth? McMurdo Dry Valleys, Antarctica
  • What color are the arches at McDonald's in Sedona, Arizona? Turquoise
  • What is the only state in America that does not have a rectangular state flag? Ohio
  • What is the rarest blood type? AB-
  • Where did Albert Einstein live before moving to the United States? Germany
  • Which fruit did many people in the Western world think was poisonous until 1820? tomatoes
  • The bald eagle is the national bird of the United States. But this time, the term 'bald' doesn't mean hairless. It comes from an Old English word that means...what? White
  • What was the date of the Boston Tea Party? December 16th, 1773

In Arizona, it is illegal to hunt camels. And any misdemeanors toward camels are forbidden. Which prompts my question, where are all the camels? I didn't see even one last time I went there. Is the camel the state mammal and I'm just now finding out about this? How did this even become a thing? Were camels found in Arizona a long time ago or something and they were hunted like wild buffalo? These are questions I'm going to ask when I go to Heaven.

I didn't see very many wet eyes Monday morning, I didn't hear screaming and gnashing of teeth (yes, I'm talking about parents), and I didn't have a bunch of kiddos in my office asking for medicine at 8:05. I'd say that was a win win and another win for the start of a new school year! But, as with anything new, it can take just a little bit to settle into a routine. And ...
