New Security Operations Manager

As you are aware, we live in a very different time than thirty, even twenty, years ago. We here at Franklin Road are taking these changes in our society seriously. In so doing, we have hired a full-time Security Operations Manager that will be on premises should any concerns arise.

Mr. Justin Damerville has extensive knowledge and experience in the security field that we feel will serve students and staff here well. Mr. Damerville has served his community for 11 years in the Portland, Oregon area as Patrol Officer for eight years, and Police Sergeant for the remainder of his time there. He has extensive emergency response training, has been recognized repeatedly for outstanding work with commendations and has relevant knowledge and experience dealing with heated and hostile situations and people.

He served in the Oregon Army National Guard from March 2009 to March 2011 as Sergeant and Ambulance Platoon Squad Leader and has served his country in Iraq twice from 2005 to 2009. In 2014, he received his Bachelors of Science: Criminal Justice Administration Degree and in 2016 completed his Masters of Public Administration Degree.

So please, make Mr. Damerville's first days here at FRCS warm and happy ones as we all try very hard to tuck our crazy in a little bit. We really wouldn't want him to run away screaming the first week.

Lost & Found Sale 2/2-2/3

Usually our Lost & Found sales go from Wednesday to Friday so with this week being a little abbreviated due to inclement weather, you're really gonna have to buckle down and peruse the goods extra hard on Thursday and Friday so no one walks away with a good deal. Or your coat. Or lunchbox. Or that one shoe you've been searching an entire month for. You'll want that.

Valentine's Day Orders Due 2/10

With the beginning of February here yesterday, that means you only have 13 more days until Valentine's Day. We've tried to make it easy for you. Fill out a Valentine's Day form for your student and return it to the office. It just melts my heart to watch these kiddos receive a Valentine from their parents. Makes my day almost as much as it makes theirs.

Last day to turn in your form is February 10th.

Re-enrollment Has Begun

February 1st has occurred. It has come and gone. Which means that current FRCS school families have the green light to re-enroll their current students. If I've said it once, I have said it a hundred times and I feel like a broken record. Do not, I repeat, do not wait to re-enroll. Do this now before the 15th of February comes along and a current student's sibling oomphs your student out of a spot. It has happened in the past and it is not a pretty sight. Lips quiver and shake. Tears roll. Momma's beg and plead.

Get that re-enrollment paper in and pay the registration fee to save your spot before it's gone.

Black History Month - John James

History isn't something that only happens hundreds of years ago. History is something that happened as soon as yesterday. While there are lots of people we can look up to hundreds of years ago, there are plenty we can look up to today.

John James grew up in Detroit, Michigan. He is a graduate of West Point and in 2004 became a Ranger-qualified aviation officer who served in Operation Iraqi Freedom. He has flown over 750 combat hours and has led Apache platoons with distinction. (Yes. Those big loud black helicopters that make you stop and look up when you hear them. Always made me proud to be an American when I saw them and always brought tears to my eyes and a prayer for the soldiers to my heart.)

John James, while having no political background, defeated incumbent Carl Malinga because he had a desire to make others' lives better. During his campaign, he promised to give 5% of the money raised to Michigan communities. And he followed through with that promise, giving over $1 million.

He believes in defending the Constitution as it is written, he believes in border control - sovereign nations must have entry points and secure borders to succeed, he's pro 2nd Amendment, pro life, and pro military.

He truly is a man with a dream and a purpose to make others' lives better. This is something we all should aspire to do.

It felt like it barely even started before it was already over. But, no use crying over the inevitable. School had to restart so right now seems like as good a time as any. So welcome back to the returning students - we missed you. School just isn't the same when y'all aren't here. And welcome to the new students - we cannot wait to make your acquaintance and get to know you better. I hope your week - and your student's week - was excellent. If it wasn't, well, I hope it was mostly good. Of course, there were some kinks along the way and that elementary secretary seemed a little scratchy at times (I'm so very sorry. I hate being scratchy and I am determined t...
