Goodness Gracious

Not many of us like Monday's. Usually it's the start to another ho-hum week filled with tests, quizzes, work, and other mundane things we're required to do. But I'm pretty confident that this past Monday was a Monday for the books. Goodness Gracious really knocked it out of the park for us here at FRCS and we want to say thank you to the group that brought the best pancakes in the state to our school!

If I were only allowed to use your expressions as a gauge on how excellent breakfast was, I'm going to say it was better than a home run. One parent (you know who you are) even said it was a 10 star out of 5 star experience. I'd say you can't get better than that.

Thank you Goodness Gracious for sponsoring this event and making our Monday way better than normal. We hope you'll be a regular here on campus for many, many years to come!

*We do realize that not everyone received their pancakes and we're super sorry about it. Mondays are notorious for things of this sort and we do apologize. Those of you who did not get pancakes will not be charged. If you paid cash, you will be refunded. And yes, we know you're disappointed so why not stop by their restaurant at the Fountains and see what it is that you missed. You won't regret it!

100 Day Parade, 1/27

Ok, you've been warned. This Friday come join us as our Preschool through 1st graders try to cute you to death with their 100 Day Parade.

Each class has their own particular theme and will march around the corridors with smiles and waves-as well as a few tosses of candy. You really don't want to miss this. This truly is the cutest parade in Middle Tennessee.

Starts at 9 and if the car pickup line is any indicator, people will be lining up at 8. See you there!

Brownie Sundae Friday, 1/27

If you don't make it to the parade and you really absolutely must have some sugar or you'll faint, you're in luck. Bring in $1 and you'll have a chance to get an ooey, gooey, chocolatey fudge sundae at lunchtime. I mean, c'mon. Can a week get any better than one that started off with the best pancakes in the state and ends with a cuteness overloaded parade and a brownie sundae opportunity at lunchtime? Isn't this the things dreams are made of?

Re-enrollment for Current FRCS Families, 2/1

February 1st. The day after January 31st. The second month of the brand new year. While yes, time does seem like it's flying, there are some things you need to do to make sure things don't get away from you.

Things like, re-enrollment for current FRCS families opens on the 1st, with priority given to current students through the 14th. Please get those forms and the registration fees turned in before then so you don't lose your spot. Because on the 15th? Those school families who have kids who are not currently enrolled here have the opportunity to get a spot. And I'm not going to kid around here. There's quite a few that are waiting anxiously for the 15th. Don't even get me started about March 1st. That's going to be a madhouse.

Get those green forms and the registration fees in as soon as possible.

Lost & Found, 2/1-2/3

If you've had a moment and looked at the lost & found bins, you know this is way overdue. Seriously. It looks like it could eat a small child. Wednesday through Friday of next week, we will be having a lost & found sale where things are only $1. Tables will be conveniently located in front of my office.

JV Hoops

Want to throw out a happy, excited congratulations to Peyton Applegate and Mason Alcorn for making All Tournament and Ben Walker for being named MVP. We're proud of you all!

Academic Testing Winners

This year, the powers that be (in charge of TACS Fine Arts) have made it possible for more students to progress to the next level. So instead of having a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winner, the horizon has expanded to let more students go strut their stuff at State. Which is pretty cool. Want to see who's advancing to the next level?

Here's the list...

Coming Up Next...

Love is in the air and Valentine's Day is right around the corner. Here's your opportunity to shower your student with love here at FRCS. Send a Valentine bear, balloon, and candy to your student-or just a bear, or just a balloon and candy, the choice is yours-and make their day. Deadline to return your order form is February 10th and deliveries will be made February 14th.

*Please fill out one form per child

**Will be Charged to Your RenWeb Account**

  • I've read somewhere that a single drop of water takes 90 days to travel the entire length of the Mississippi River. My question is: who was the person who not only followed that drop of water, but how did they know it was the exact drop of water they dropped in the first place? Sounds a little dubious if you ask me. I think it would be rather easy for a fake drop of water to pretend it was the real one and fool the one responsible for recording the data. That's all I'm saying.
  • McDonalds is an American staple. Everyone knows what those golden arches mean. And if you're hungry enough, whether you love them or hate them, chances are you'll stop. But did you know there was one time you could order broccoli from their menu? And it wasn't just ordinary broccoli. Oh no. It was bubble gum flavored. Sometimes people need to just leave well-enough alone.
  • In all our fifty state names, there is one letter that isn't used once. It's an easy one so I'm not going to give you any hints.
  • Do you have any idea what sneesl, feefle, and flinkdrinkin all have in common? Yes. They are real words. Come by the office (or call because it's cold out there) and give it your best shot. But don't google - let's do this the old fashioned way. Guessing. :)
  • There are some species of octopuses that lay 56,000 eggs over the space of a month. Don't feel bad for momma octo just yet - those eggs are only about the size of a grain of rice. No. You should feel bad because she gathers each and every one and then weaves them into braids so she can watch them. All of them.

I didn't see very many wet eyes Monday morning, I didn't hear screaming and gnashing of teeth (yes, I'm talking about parents), and I didn't have a bunch of kiddos in my office asking for medicine at 8:05. I'd say that was a win win and another win for the start of a new school year! But, as with anything new, it can take just a little bit to settle into a routine. And ...
