Pancake Breakfast, January 23rd

If you haven't made it to Goodness Gracious over at the Fountains yet, I have good news. Goodness Gracious will be serving a pancake breakfast here on January 23rd from 7:20-7:50 in the Commons. So get your order forms turned in, (make sure you have your name on it. You'd be surprised at how good my investigative skills have gotten, but still. Cut me some slack, please) and show up on the 23rd prepared to enjoy a delicious breakfast with your child. Or children. Unless one of them has angered you in some way, you can ignore that one. I wouldn't advise it, but hey. It's ultimately your decision.

It is an excellent way to start your day.

Gold Rush Games, January 24th

Join us January 24th for our Gold Rush Games here at FRCS. JV Girls will start us off against South Haven at 4:00 and Varsity Boys will wrap up the evening from 7:30 until the game is over. Be sure to wear your black and gold Gold Rush shirts we got just for this occasion! (I have it on good authority that anyone who attends that evening will receive a free candy bar.)

100th Day Parade, January 27th

Okay so this is the 3rd time I've mentioned this, but you're invited to join us here on January 27th at 9 am to celebrate Preschoolers through 1st graders who have made it 100 days in school. It's something you'll want to share and enjoy.

Brownie Sundae Friday, January 27th

Apparently, the 27th is going to be an exciting, sugar strewn day. Good thing it's a Friday, just going to toss that out there. Not only will candy be thrown at the 100th Day Parade, but the seniors will be hosting Brownie Sundaes at lunch time. So bring $1 and a calm spirit. At the end of the day, you will probably not have either.

Re-enrollment for Current FRCS Families, February 1st

Re-enrollment for current FRCS families begins February 1st.

Did you see that? So if you have a student who is going into Kindergarten, this article would be for you. If you have a student who is going into 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc., grades, this also is for you.

You will receive a green re-enrollment form in the mail. Fill that puppy out and get it turned back into the office here with your registration fee so we can save your spot. If you didn't get that form, come see one of us in the office and we will get a form to you.

Please. Don't delay. Do not make the mistake many others have made and think, "Meh. I have time. I'll do it next week." Because I'm going to be honest here. You don't have a lot of time. There are people waiting at the door and I truly do not like it when I have to tell my friends that they cannot come back because they don't have a spot anymore.

Don't do that to me.

Late Lunch Ordering Charge

Speaking of February. Due to wanting to have enough lunch for everyone, an extra $1 per after-deadline-lunch-orders will come into effect February 1st. Which means, I will have to put my mean face on and be strong. This will not be easy for me for I am weak and y'all know it.

101 Random

  • So quick question. Did you know that crocodiles can gallop like a horse? They can reach speeds up to 11 mph. I'll be honest, I don't care to run, but if I ever saw a large, scaly, toothy crocodile racing toward me, it would be my finest hour and I believe no one would be able to catch me.
  • At one time, tulips were more valuable than gold because they were a symbol of affluence as only the wealthy could afford them. Which really upsets me because I have a mole that absolutely loves to gorge himself on mine! Rotten thing.
  • Ok, so this one brought a certain person immediately to my mind. I won't tell who it was. You have to guess. During medieval times, shoes could be up to 2 feet long. Yes. That was two feet long. Could you imagine?! I mean, how did they manage to walk? How did they ride a horse? How were they able to, um, motivate husbands?! Ok so I may be kidding on the last one. But I may not be. You know me so I'll let you decide.
  • Don't you just love it when you look outside your window and see your yard covered in dandelions? (It never bothered me. I loved it when my kids would pick a bunch and bring them to me. What precious memories!) Anyway, next time your heart falls to your feet because you notice a whole lot of yellow, why not consider making...honey? So yes, this is a thing I will be figuring out how to do come spring. Because that's pretty awesome. Want to try it? Check out the recipe here.
  • When I was a kid, the thing you wanted to happen to you was to be told your tonsils needed to come out. It seemed like all my friends were having to go through the process and they couldn't wait to tell me how much ice cream and goodies they got to eat afterward. So I looked faithfully in the bathroom mirror for years hoping that one day, I, too, would be one of those lucky people. Sadly, it never happened to me. I don't think I even had tonsils, truth be told. Nope. Not even a smidgen of one. Maybe mine were super small. Miniscule, even. I dunno. But I do know that there are some people whose tonsils grow back after being removed. And everyone thought I was stubborn!
  • Those of you who have chickens, attention please. I just read that you can tell the color a chicken's shell will be by looking at their...ear lobes. I have had my share of chickens, but I have never, ever, no not even one time noticed that all my chickens actually have ear lobes. Who is the person that figured that out? Did they have nothing to do?

I didn't see very many wet eyes Monday morning, I didn't hear screaming and gnashing of teeth (yes, I'm talking about parents), and I didn't have a bunch of kiddos in my office asking for medicine at 8:05. I'd say that was a win win and another win for the start of a new school year! But, as with anything new, it can take just a little bit to settle into a routine. And ...
