Brownie Sundaes on Friday

They're baaaaaacccckkkk! I wish there was a way I could put an audio file on here so you would read that statement correctly. If you didn't do that in a sing-song voice, you did it wrong and I'm requesting that you go back and start over. Thank you. Now, wasn't that better?

Friday, (yes, tomorrow,) the Senior Class will be hosting a brownie sundae sale for only $1. What that means: students will line up far and long during their lunch time to purchase a slice of chocolatey goodness covered with a dollop of ice cream and sprinkles on top. Or not if they don't like sprinkles. (I'm not sure I can handle that magnitude of chaos though, so please. Don't tell me if they prefer sprinkle-less sundaes.)

So raid the couch cushions to scrounge up 4 quarters because this is a thing they will want to be a part of.

Fall Tent Revival - 10/8-10/12

Fall. Crisp apples, apple cider, hayrides, s'mores over bonfires. Can it get any better than this? Yes. Yes it can. Take time out of your busy schedule and join us for the annual FRBC Fall Tent Revival and listen to special guest speakers Mike Clark, Charles Clark, Sr., Dean Miller, and Luke Bishop as they share God's Word in soul-reviving ways. Click here to see the complete schedule!

10/12-10/26

The Abby Candle Sale starts October 12th and ends October 26th so be prepared. Information will be coming your way soon. This particular fundraiser helps our Junior class raise money to go to Washington D.C. in the spring. And just so you know, this isn't just candles. There are other things included like wax melt warmers, (cute ones), socks, room fresheners, and more. Could be a good springboard to start Christmas shopping as there are only 80 days left. Not interested in selling these? Not a problem. Simply send your packet back and don't think another thing about it. You are not required to participate.

End of 1st Quarter - 10/14

The end of the 1st quarter is racing toward us and is going to hit us head on if we're not careful. So make sure you're checking your grades and have turned in all missing work because it's going to be here before you know it. And no one wants a zero. That's bad juju.

Mom, are you worried that Johnny isn't taking his education seriously? Dad, are you concerned about that low test score little Sally got? Do you want to know what you can do to help your child succeed and make this year great? Good. We've set aside October 24th for you to get together with the teachers so you can get the scoop on your child. Or prepare game-plans and swap ideas on how everyone can have the best year possible. Be on the lookout. Teachers will be sending out appointment information soon.

Please be aware that Preschool will be open. K5-12th grade will be closed.

  • Pumpkin pie spice. You've heard of it. Maybe you've used it once or twice for something or other. While there isn't any actual pumpkin in it (which would be kinda gross because then it would be sticky and gooey and I can't handle that) it is used traditionally in pumpkin pies (thank you Captain Obvious) lattes (which are always a good idea), cookies, donuts, and air fresheners. (I feel like I should tell you that you should not eat those air fresheners no matter how yummy they smell.)
  • Want to make your own Homemade Pumpkin Pie Spice? Mix together 4 teaspoons cinnamon, 2 teaspoons ginger, 1 teaspoon cloves, and 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg. Use on anything that even remotely looks like it needs a dusting of spice. Popcorn, coffee, almonds, milkshakes...chicken might be too much, but then again, you might start a new fad. Who knows?
  • Along with pumpkin pie, you have to think about apples. I mean, c'mon, is it really fall if there isn't at least one apple pie? And with over 7,500 different varieties of apples, you have quite a few options to choose from. Don't forget the cider. Or the spiced cider. Or the pumpkin donut that you need to dip into the warm spiced cider. All the yummy, delicious things...

I didn't see very many wet eyes Monday morning, I didn't hear screaming and gnashing of teeth (yes, I'm talking about parents), and I didn't have a bunch of kiddos in my office asking for medicine at 8:05. I'd say that was a win win and another win for the start of a new school year! But, as with anything new, it can take just a little bit to settle into a routine. And ...
