Were You There?

Did you make it to the New Parent's Meeting Tuesday night? Thank you to those who joined us - we do appreciate your time and we hope you found it helpful and full of great information. We look forward to a great year with you and your student!

Smart Cards- Overdue

Did you happen to notice if you had a Smart Card or two lying around in a drawer that you forgot to return to the office last Friday? Is there one or two, or maybe five, lurking somewhere in the glove box of your van? Or did that neighbor who was certain they wanted one decided at the last minute that they weren't as interested as they thought and now there's one just lying abandoned on the entryway table?

Please bring them back to the office as soon as possible. We would really, absolutely, without a doubt hate to charge you for them. See you soon!

It's here. The day all you Preschool through 6th grade Grandparents have been waiting for. The day where you get to come to the school and check your grandchild out for lunch. Or even the rest of the day. Whichever you decide - it's completely up to you.

Remember parents, if your student's grandparents are unable to make it, you are more than welcome to come by and check them out for lunch. Or the whole day. Again. Your choice. Just please make sure the teacher knows.

In an effort to make things easier for, well, pretty much everybody, you will pick up your child/grandchild in the gym starting at 11:00 am. Please, please, please do not just walk off with them. This will throw everyone in a tizzy and the alarm will be raised. Sniffer dogs might happen. It'll get crazy I promise you so make sure you sign your child/grandchild out. I'm too young to have a heart attack.

Enjoy your day!

Jr. High Fall Retreat Sept. 15-17

School has started. The leaves are changing. Starbucks and Dunkin have Pumpkin Spice everything so it's official. Fall has begun - what a wonderful time of year it is!

With life happening so fast these days, it's a blessing to be able to take a break and just focus on your walk with God. Your relationship with Jesus. This is your 7th-9th grader's chance to do exactly that at Indian Creek Baptist Camp.

Sign up in the elementary office by September 12th. Cost is $85 per camper and you must sign a waiver. Which you can find on my desk as well. (It really is a good thing that I have so much desk space. Have you seen it lately?!)

Mums Are On Sale

Have you ordered your mum yet? If you haven't, feel free to start the porch beautification process using the handy dandy QR code below. (Wow does that make everything so much easier...bless you to those who did this. You know who you are.) Don't trust QR codes because you've been told they come from China and they're used to track your information for the Russians? We've got you covered. Just follow this link and fill out the form.

last day to order mums is Tuesday, September 20th by 3:00 pm

Fall Break Sept. 28-30th

I know, we just had Monday off. But let's face it. Having sporadic breaks sprinkled through the school year gives every last one of us something to look forward to. Even the Preschoolers have been known to hang their head and say they can't wait for Fall Break or Thanksgiving Break or Christmas Break. Trust me. It has happened.

Anyway, just wanted to remind you that this year's Fall Break is a whopping three days. Can I get an Amen?!

But what exactly does this mean for you? Well, it means that there will be absolutely no schooling going on here on campus at FRCS. Not even one tiny grade. All of fourth grade being a pill? Too bad. You can't punish them with school. (Which I don't think you should do that anyway as school is a wonderful opportunity and a huge blessing. I'll stop right there before I start preaching. You're welcome.) So to recap: there will be no school on Wednesday the 28th, Thursday the 29th, and Friday the 30th. Stock up on those macaroni and cheese microwave things now so you'll have lunch covered.

They Do What?

What do Kroger, Publix, and Amazon Smile have in common? Each of these places give back to a school or charity of your choice. All you need to do is sign up on their website, make a purchase, or two or three, using your number or card, and a percentage will go toward the school of your choice. Or charity in the case of Amazon Smile. Here's the links:

  • Kroger
  • Publix (you have to join Club Publix first.)
  • Amazon Smile (this link tells you all about it. Should you decide to do this, the charity would be Franklin Road Baptist Church as we have the same EIN number as the church.)

101 Random

  • What word, when written in all capital letters, is the same forward, backward, and upside down? NOON
  • How many psychologists does it take to change a light bulb? ONE. BUT IT REALLY HAS TO WANT TO CHANGE.
  • If you were to drive straight up into the sky at 60 mph, it would only take 1 hour to reach space. I'm not sure why anyone would want to do that, but there you have it. Elon Musk, take it from here.
  • There was a cornflake shaped like Illinois that sold on eBay for over $1300. What in the world, people?! Do you have nothing better to spend your money on than a cornflake? Look. If you need ideas, please come see me and I'll give you a couple.
  • The longest recorded tennis match lasted for 11 hours. And that's how the first arm just randomly fell off. I wonder if insurance would cover that.
  • It's rumored that after you cry, you feel happier because of endorphins that were released from said crying. So next time you see my face all red and blotchy, keep going about your business and don't worry. I'm just happy...

I didn't see very many wet eyes Monday morning, I didn't hear screaming and gnashing of teeth (yes, I'm talking about parents), and I didn't have a bunch of kiddos in my office asking for medicine at 8:05. I'd say that was a win win and another win for the start of a new school year! But, as with anything new, it can take just a little bit to settle into a routine. And ...
