End of the Year
I've been saying the same thing for a few weeks, but yea, we're down to single digits before we officially begin summer vacation. That's if you're not a Senior. That particular group of students have been very eager to tell me repeatedly that 'today is my last day' or 'this is the last time you'll see me, Mrs. Stephan,' or my particular favorite, 'you're going to miss me aren't you' which they very well know that yes, I'm going to miss them. Terribly. As in really really bad. I think they like to see me cry. Hmm.
But the good news is, I have the rest of the students for another couple of days. And boy are those days full of fun things like awards ceremonies, exams, exam passes if they got one, and lots of good things. Things that won't be repeated until next year.
The gist of the whole thing is you're almost done with this school year. So finish strong. Get all the things done. As in all the things. Get studying because Exams are next week and remember, today will never happen again. This is your chance to do the best you can possibly do with what you've been given.
End of the Year Programs
Like I said in the article above, if you're bored even a little bit, this is the part that takes care of all of that because we're almost done. I'm going to try to make this as easily digestible as possible.

Congratulations, Girls Soccer Team
A hearty congratulations goes out to our Girls' Soccer team for placing first in this year's Tournament. We're so very proud of the effort you all have put into this season. Extra congratulations goes out to Anora Golden, Bryleigh Dempsey, and Alyssa Bryant for making All Tournament, and Gracie Tidwell for being MVP...as well as Lauren Weinmann for kicking the winning goal. That was awesome!
MS State Tournaments Results
I hate to start an article the same as the previous one, but there's really only so many ways to say congratulations and we're so proud of you. Somehow, while you mean it just as much, it loses a little something so let's try to say it this way...
FRCS would like to say excellent job and extend an exuberant congratulations to the MS Baseball team who are now the Champions. We knew you could do it and we appreciate you representing our school so well. Great job team!
Lost & Found
I'm sorry to inform you, but next week will be the very last week to recover your Lost & Found items. We will have everything set up in front on the elementary office for you to peruse and pick through. Good luck finding what has been lost.
Summer Hours
With all the excitement regarding summer vacation, I feel this would be the best time to let you know that the school offices will be open through the summer from 9-1 and flip flops or sandals may be the everyday attire of the people who are there. You have been warned. :)

- That blob of toothpaste that sits on your toothbrush before you use it? Yea it has a name. A weird one but a name nonetheless. I'd like to introduce to you Mr. Nurdle. Be kind and use him often.
- There are some weeds that can be eaten. So mom, next time little Bobby is saying he's starving after you've tried feeding him and he refused to eat, feel free to point him in the direction of the front yard to find some yummy dandelions, plantain, chickweed, and purslane. Either he will love his new 'salad' or he won't be so picky next time you give him a peanut butter and onion sandwich.
- Sea otters hold hands while they sleep so they don't float away. How cute would that be to see?! Not a lonely sea otter floating away, but a group of them holding hands. Hmm. Hope the wife of the couple doesn't get angry with her husband or she could be tempted to just...let him go...
- According to some scientists, dolphins actually have names for each other. Other than the obvious question of what names do they use, my question is, how to scientists know this? Has someone found Dr. Dolittle? If they have and you know where he is, would you please send him my way? My dog keeps saying something and I have no idea what it is.
- Ever wonder how far away the horizon is? Good. Let me help you with that. Using this equation, √(height above surface / 0.5736) = distance to horizon you can figure it out. However. If you're 6 feet tall standing at sea level, the horizon is only 3 miles away. Why do we need to know this? We will never be able to reach the horizon because it'll always be further away. Kind of like the end of the rainbow. It's. Not. There.
- If you're ever attacked by a crocodile, stick your finger in its eye. Never mind that you'll more than likely be panicking so much that you won't even know where to find your thumb or the dratted crocodile eye, I think you're best option is not to swim, kayak, or hike in crocodile or alligator infested areas. This will more than likely give me nightmares tonight.
- Did you know that paper money isn't made of paper? Nope. It's actually made of 75% cotton and 25% linen so now you can't laugh at me when I tell you that I iron my money. Is that the same as money laundering?
- Just FYI, if you're going to a job interview, experts say the worst color to wear is orange and the best color to wear is blue. My question is, next time I go to a job interview, should I dye my hair blue?!
