Elementary Field Day, April 8th

Don't forget that this Friday is Elementary Field Day. Looking at the weather, you'll probably want to dress warm. So this is what that statement means:

  • Classes will meet at the flagpole at 9 am (yes this is a different time, and yes, this one is correct. Changes have been made. Continue reading.) ****Update! This has been changed due to incoming inclement weather! We have reverted back to the 8:15 start time!****
  • Girls can wear leggings under PE shorts. **If no PE shorts are underneath, we will supply a pair and your account will be charged. Thank you for your help in this.**
  • Boys can wear sweatpants
Now that you're all caught up, I believe I shall see you at the flagpole this Friday at 9 am.

Lunch Ordering

You know how we all love those gentle reminders? You know the ones. Like when you've told your child that they have to do their homework before they eat their broccoli? Or they have to watch tv before they do homework? Obviously I'm kidding because no one wants to watch tv before doing homework, am I right? ;)

Well, the Bible instructs us to do all things decently and in order, and we need your help with this in the lunch ordering area. I realize we're rounding the bend on school and that this is going to be a moot point (love that word 'moot') in a couple of weeks (as in 6!) but we really are slipping.

In order for our kitchen staff to be equipped and prepared, we need an accurate count by Sunday night at 11:59. I know I know. We all get busy doing and going and weekending that we simply forget to plan ahead for the upcoming week. Trust me, I get it. But maybe you could set a reminder on your phone that goes off to remind you to order would help. I don't know. We thank you in advance.

Achievement Testing, April 11-14

What does April 11th through April 14th and no excused absences have in common?

Yea. I don't know either, but seriously, you can't have any excused absences that week because we will be testing your child. As in, how much they've learned here at FRCS. So, if you call me and say, oooh I'm fresh out of pickles and I have to go shopping for some so I can't come to school, or, oooh, Mrs. Stephan, my goldfish frankie has died, I'm going to say, Oh Charlie, I am super sorry, but I'm gonna need you to bring a box of tissues with you to school, because you have to be here.

Really and truly. I don't want to have to do that. Please don't make me. Just come to school. Come with a snack. Wear some funny socks if you need to to brighten your day, but be here.

Thank you.

No School April 15th

In observance of Good Friday, (the Friday before y'all rot your teeth out eating all those Reese's Peanut Butter Bunnies) there will be no school on Friday the 15th. This goes for K3-12th grade. That means everyone. Which also means there will be no late stay.

Easter Sunday April 17th

We would love to invite you and your family to join us here at Franklin Road Baptist Church for Easter services. Dress up in those fancy dresses, suits and ties and come hear what God has done for everyone. Literally. Everyone. Because last I checked? We're all whosoevers and the Bible says, For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. - John 3:16

Not sure you understand what that means? Excellent. Come by and get a blessing as you learn that Easter is all about what God has done for you and the price that has already been paid. All you have to do?

Receive the Gift. Services start at 10:30 am.

Open House April 24th? Uh no.

CANCELED! You read that right. The day when you get to have all your friends, neighbors, and family members tour your school so they too can enroll has been canceled. Canceled I say. As in we're not having it. Because it wouldn't be very nice to have a bunch of people tour our facility just to tell them we don't have room.

That would be bad manners.

Summer Day Camp

You know what's nice about summer? We get a chance to let our hair down. To visit family members because we didn't have time to travel the rest of the year. A time for families to make magical memories in exotic places like...I dunno, Pittsburgh?

Well with all the changes we've all lived through, this year our teachers are taking the summer off to do those things. To visit their families. To welcome new members into their homes (Mr. & Mrs. Hartono, Mr. & Mrs. Carlson, and Mr. & Mrs. Herrmann, to name a few expecting precious bundles of joy). Maybe ride a roller coaster or two. Hey, I love roller coasters. I realize I'm in the minority, but still. I can dream.

And with all that visiting and newborns and memory making, we simply do not have enough workers for summer day camp this year. Which means this:

Due to staff shortages, we're going to have to cancel the SDC program.

Please don't panic. Our teachers and aides have been working super hard and they need a break. Their minds are frazzled. I believe I've seen some smoke coming out of ears on a couple of them. Wait that could have been mine. Whatever. They need this.

We do apologize for any inconvenience and our goal is to restart the program again next summer. We're just taking a hiatus this summer.

Thank you for understanding. This is why our school has the best families.

State Competition Results

I know you already know this, but we have some pretty amazing students here at FRCS. And I've got the details to prove it. Scroll below until your heart is content to see how FRCS did in the TACS State Competition in March.

Congratulations to all - we're super proud of you!

I didn't see very many wet eyes Monday morning, I didn't hear screaming and gnashing of teeth (yes, I'm talking about parents), and I didn't have a bunch of kiddos in my office asking for medicine at 8:05. I'd say that was a win win and another win for the start of a new school year! But, as with anything new, it can take just a little bit to settle into a routine. And ...
