Walkathon April 29th

Just a reminder that the last day to turn in Walkathon money is next Wednesday, April 27th and the actual day we walk your children is April 29th. What are we walking to raise funds for? So glad you asked. A new air-conditioned bus to use on field trips, going to and from games, class trips, and more. (If you've ever ridden a bus to a field trip, you understand why it needs to be air-conditioned.)

Not sure how you can raise money? Your student can be sponsored based on distance walked, a flat rate donation, or corporate sponsorships from your favorite stores.

Students will be rewarded based on how much they raise. As in, the younger grades get a fun day on May 6th, and 7th-12th graders can earn exam day passes where they can leave after exams are finished. I've seen students have an entire week of half-days. Which is pretty awesome. That's one of those things I wish I'd had growing up. But no. I had to walk to school. Uphill both ways in 18" of snow in March and there wasn't anything even remotely similar to exam passes. (Feel sorry for me yet?)

We look forward to another great Walkathon event - see you there!

Week of Tests

Have you ever felt like your head was going to spin completely around? Last week, there were a couple of students I thought that was going to happen to. No joke. However, even with all the crazy eyes and weird head-bobbing, I think it was a successful week. Thank you for having your students here, prepared, and happy. (Trust me. They were happy. They won't tell you but I know for a fact that every student here at FRCS loves school and that Academic Testing is almost their favorite week. I say almost because exam week is their absolute favorite. Trust me on this. No need to ask questions.)

It's the End.

Well, almost. I was being dramatic to get your attention. I hope it worked because I do believe that at least 3/4ths of you do not read the Parent Page. I take this personally and it cuts me to my soul. Just want you to know that. Anyway, pity party over.

We only have 4 Mondays left in this school year. FOUR. So keep your head up, check that all your assignments, projects, tests, and quizzes are done. As in complete. No excuses. Just tuck in and let's finish this year strong! I believe in you. You got this!

Important May Dates

May is an exciting month for all of us. Whatever the reason you look forward to it, it most definitely is a busy month. At least until the 19th. After that? It's a free for all.

Here's what you have to look forward to:

  • May 9th-14th - Senior Class Trip
  • May 10th - Merit Day (grades 7-12. Those with under 10 demerits do not have to be here)
  • May 14th - Middle School Awards Program (grades 6th-8th) 6:00 pm in the church auditorium
  • May 16th - 6th Grade Banquet, Awards, and Graduation; 6:00 pm at The Fountains
  • May 17th - K5 Play and Graduation/Elementary Awards (grades 1-5); 6:00 pm in church auditorium
  • May 18th Baccalaureate, 7:00 in church auditorium
  • May 19th - Last day of school - dismiss at 11:30
  • May 19th - Gala, Embassy Suites at 5:45
  • May 20th - Parent/Senior Luncheon, 11:30
  • May 20th - Commencement at 7:00 in church auditorium

**Spring Assembly Announcement: If you have looked at the school calendar, you will notice that there was a School Assembly planned for May 3rd at 9:45-10:30 in the morning. This has been canceled, and we do apologize. Those groups that were ready to play will be performing in upcoming Chapel Services.

Gala, May 19th 5:45 pm

I love dressing up but there's only so much dress up you can do for church on Sunday before people start looking at you weird. And some, well, they're so, um, 'precious' we always look at them weird.

You're invited to join us May 19th at 5:45 pm at Embassy Suites here in the 'Boro. Let's cap off another great school year with academics and character awards for 7th and 8th graders and all the awards for the 9th-12th graders.

So press those beautiful dresses and suits and join us. Tickets are $35 per student or parent of student, $40 per guest. May 13th is the final day to purchase those tickets.

That's Going to be a Nope

Just a quick reminder that not only am I here to answer phones, deliver lunches, and give out band aids by the box full, I am here to ruin your hopes and dreams. As in, I wanted to remind you to that Open House this Sunday, April 24th, has been canceled as well as Summer Day Camp.

So...what does that mean for you? To summarize: no Open House this Sunday and no Summer Day Camp this summer.

Tomorrow is the day the EFS applications roll-out. 12:00 noon is the time, so please, have all your documents uploaded and stored on your computer for ease of access because as soon as the clock tolls 12, things may get congested and a little bit laggish. Good luck and we wish you the best.  Oh yea. Here's the link. So Many Things, 5/17-5/23 I apologize in advance for the length of this week's Parent Page. It felt like it barely even started before it was already over. But, no use crying over the inevitable. School had to restart so right now seems like as good a time as any. So welcome back to the returning students - we missed you. School just isn't the same when y'all aren't here. And welcome to the new students - we cannot wait to make your acquaintance and get to know you better. I hope your week - and your student's week - was excellent. If it wasn't, well, I hope it was mostly good. Of course, there were some kinks along the way and that elementary secretary seemed a little scratchy at times (I'm so very sorry. I hate being scratchy and I am determined t...
