Walkathon April 29th
Yes, it's tomorrow but it's not too late. If you would still like your child to participate in this years Walkathon, pop into the office for a minute or two with your donation. We will take care of you. Probably with a smile. Unless my coffee hasn't quite kicked in yet or I forgot to take my vitamins. It could be a toss-up. I promise to try to behave but I cannot promise that there will be no sass. Sass seems to be my specialty. Or my curse. Whichever.
Remember, there are rewards for those who raise enough money. With such things as a 2 hour to a 4 hour fun day in the jumpy houses for 6th grade and under or exam passes that work basically like a "Get Out of Jail" card in the game of Monopoly, these prizes really are great.
6th grade and under reward day is May 6th and they seriously don't want to miss this. Trust me.
May 2nd
Join us for this year's new Honor Society inductees May 2nd at 9:45 at a special Chapel service in the church auditorium. FRCS Honor Society students not only have a GPA of 3.5, they've also proven themselves in the areas of leadership, Christian character, service, and spirituality. Help us congratulate and honor these special students who have worked so hard to be a part of this group.
Have you ever had a rough day at work? Ever wonder if anyone noticed that you were trying your best? Or have you needed someone to come beside you and pat you on the back and tell you that you're doing a great job, just hang in there?
Let's face it. We've all had rough days. Bad days that sometimes stretch into bad weeks. I'm not sure if you'd admit it, but I'm pretty confident that some people even have entire bad months. I have. Probably my own fault because of my sass, but, that's really not what we're talking about at the moment.
Next week, May 2nd through May 6th is Teacher Appreciation Week and I'd like you to join me and try to be a blessing and encouragement to our teachers. Whether you love your child's teacher or they're not your cup of tea isn't the point. The point of this week is to do unto others what you'd prefer someone to do unto you. To bring a smile to someone's face by being nice.
I'm not asking you to spend a ton of money on them. I'm not asking you to bring in their favorite coffee or soda or a box of fancy paperclips or notecards. (If you'd like to do something like that, please, by all means, do so and we all thank you in advance.) But, next week, in the hall in front of the gym, there will be a bulletin board set up where you can leave a special 'compliment card' to the teacher of your choice.
Would you at the very least take a moment of your time and leave them a note? Let them know that they were thought of - maybe prayed for? Sometimes a sweet note left specifically for you changes the tone of your entire day.
Trust me I know. The sweetest person ever leaves me a note on my desk every single Sunday (I keep all of them) and it makes my Mondays so much better because she was there thinking of me.
I hope you try it and I hope you're blessed by it.
With this school year winding down, be sure to stop by a ballgame or two. We have a couple to choose from. If your taste runs more toward soccer, we've got games. If you're a baseball fanatic, yea we've got that too. Softball? Middle School baseball? Again, we've got you covered. Come out and join in the fun and root for FRCS!
Lost & Found
Do you realize there are only 14.5 days of school left as of this parent page? Which means, we need to up our Lost & Found game or someone out there will be hobbling around town this summer wearing only 1 shoe.
Next week, May 4th through the 6th we will have a lost & found sale. If you miss it, don't worry. We're planning on having another one May 16th through the 19th so we can start the summer with empty bins and your child will have every opportunity to reclaim both their shoes. :)
Random
Back by popular demand, I bring you Random Ramblings from a Redhead. And that was dumb. My apologies.
- It is physically impossible for pigs to look up into the sky. And fly. Because let's face it, a flying pig would be terrible. And scary.
- Crocodiles cannot stick their tongue out. So if you're ever in a crocodile infested swamp and you see one sticking its tongue out at you, does that mean that it's an alligator? That would make it a little easier to tell them apart, wouldn't it?
- Some lipstick contains fish scales. I heard this one when I was in high school which quite effectively killed my lipstick-wearing endeavors. I have saved a lot of money with my all-natural sassy mouth.
- All tongue prints are different. Like fingerprints. I wonder if we're just now learning this because of that gross thing that happened with all the ice cream in the freezer section at the store? Did they catch the perpetrator by making him give his tongue print? Did they make him/her stick their tongue to a frozen pole as punishment? This question will never be answered. Drat.
- A dime has 118 ridges on the sides. Which makes it easy yet time consuming when you check to make sure you don't have counterfeit money.
- Most people fall asleep in 7 minutes. Who times this? I would think it would take longer just because you knew someone was watching you while you were trying to sleep. Seriously. How do these people get these weird jobs?! And how do you advertise this particular job on LinkedIn? "Looking for someone to watch people fall asleep. Experience required." Yea, that's gonna be a no thank you.
- The giant squid has the biggest eyes in the world. If they're looking at you and there's not a thick piece of glass between you both, that means you have a problem.
