Elementary Field Day, April 8th

April 8th is Field Day. The day every 1st grader through 6th grader looks forward to. It's a rite of passage. Pretty much a crazy announcement that the end of school is right around the corner. It's an entire day set aside to play and flex jump roping skills to cement their place in field day history. It's a day where entire classes wear the same shirt so their teachers can see exactly where their students are at a simple glance. It's glorious.

And parents? You're welcome to come watch your child do the three-legged race, or the egg relay, or the long jump. You can spend the entire day with your child and cheer them on. To slather on the sunblock when they sweat it off. To clap wildly as they receive their spoils of war. Everyone knows that you keep all those ribbons—all those certificates. You have them in a box that is specially marked with your child's name on them on a closet shelf. Of course you do. Because there will be a day when you will need some ammunition - some sort of way to prove your towering 6'9" bouncing baby boy really was once the hula hoop king of FRCS.

So join your child's class at the flag pole on the patio and be prepared to enjoy the day. Kick off is 8:15 am!

Field Day Lunch Order Form (due Wednesday, April 6th)

I know you read that article above and you have questions. Let me answer them for you. Lunch on April 8th will be provided as a 6th grade class fundraiser for their banquet. Order forms must be turned in by April 6th. If you want to eat April 8th, you must place your order through the 6th grade class as the kitchen will be closed.

You are not required to order this lunch. Should you choose not to, you will need to pack one. :)

Here's the Order Form just in case yours didn't make it home yesterday. Please download, print, fill it out, and bring it back no later than Wednesday, April 6th. Want to just get it done now and not have to worry about it? Email it back to me and I'll take care of it from there. Because that's what we do.

Achievement Testing, April 11-14

April 11 through April 14, there will be no excused absences. As in zero. We need you here with a smile on your face, a snack at your space, and two number 2 pencils at your place because it's Achievement Testing, 2022! So get a good night's sleep and a yummy breakfast so we can do this. As an added bonus? There's no school April 15th. You're welcome. Now you have something to look forward to. Besides testing, of course.

Open House? Canceled!

Due to record breaking pre-enrollment this year, FRCS Open House on April 24th has been canceled. So if you were planning on having everyone, including your Uncle Bertie and Auntie Betti show up and walk the halls of your school, forget it. Have a potluck dinner instead because we will not be here.

Walkathon, April 29th

April 29th Walkathon is a GO! (See what I did there? 'Walk'athon is a go? Too much? Moving on.) This year, FRCS is raising money for a new, air-conditioned 88 passenger bus. Here's your chance to help out. Sponsor your favorite student, (or least favorite if you want to wear them out, whatever works for you,) for our annual Walkathon event.

  • $25 donation to walk (non-participants stay in classroom)
  • $50 donation for 2 hour fun day pass (K3-6th) or 1 day exam pass (7th-12th)
  • $100 4 hour fun day pass (K3-6th) or 3 day exam pass (7th-12th)
  • $250 lunch credit of $25
  • $500 lunch credit of $50
  • $1,000 lunch credit of $100
  • $5,000 tuition credit of $1,000
  • $10,000 tuition credit of $2,500

Are you interested but you're not sure you can donate? Swing by your favorite store and ask if they'd be interested in sponsoring your student. What's the worst that can happen-they say 'no'? You're really not out anything except a little bit of time. My opinion? It'd be a great advertising opportunity for them. Imagine. Their banner in our gym and on Livestreamed games for an entire year. Your child gets to walk walk walk until they're tired out, and we get closer to our goal of an air-conditioned bus. Yea. Sounds like a win-win-win situation.

and just in case you didn't get a chance to see our student's art on March 21st...

Tomorrow is the day the EFS applications roll-out. 12:00 noon is the time, so please, have all your documents uploaded and stored on your computer for ease of access because as soon as the clock tolls 12, things may get congested and a little bit laggish. I didn't see very many wet eyes Monday morning, I didn't hear screaming and gnashing of teeth (yes, I'm talking about parents), and I didn't have a bunch of kiddos in my office asking for medicine at 8:05. I'd say that was a win win and another win for the start of a new school year! But, as with anything new, it can take just a little bit to settle into a routine. And ...
