Parking Lot

Do you realize there are only, hang on a minute while I count, brb...36 1/2 days left of school? Did you get that? Thirty-six and one half days left of school.

I know what you're thinking. You're brain dead. You don't know how you're going to make it the rest of this week let alone nearly 37 more days of driving in Murfreesboro traffic. Trust me. I get it. I drive this every single day and it's probably the angriest 20 minutes of my day. With the most hostile 4 minutes being spent on i24. Seriously. Driver's education really needs to be a requirement. Oi.

Anyway, let's go over a couple of things so we can finish this year strong and well, not angry or dead.

  • parking lot has a maximum speed limit of 10 mph. That's ten miles per hour. TEN. Even if you're late. I've said it before, I'll say it again. You're already late. Stop and get a latte or a cappuccino. You're already late. You cannot turn back time by driving faster. It doesn't happen.
  • those ten miles per hour must be driven while off your phone. Trust me. Everyone drives better when they're off their phone. Plus, it's TN state law that you can't be on it whilst driving. (Yes, whilst is a word. A fancy foo-foo word, but a word none the less and I like it.)
  • pedestrians have the right of way. This is a no-brainer. They are no match for your car. They do not want to play chicken. They know they will lose. Don't test this. Let them pass safely. Thank you.
  • Should you have any issues whilst driving in our parking lot, please, don't cause a scene. Or get angry. Or use words that might make a sailor blush. (Please people. This is a Christian school. Show some dignity.) Call us. We have cameras. We will review the video and we will take care of the situation. But in no wise should you make this worse by lashing out. That's never a good idea. Bang your head against your steering wheel, fine. Grit your teeth until you grind them pearly whites to dust, fine. But do not retaliate. Let us handle it.

State Academic Testing Fine Arts Winners

Are you ready? I have a list of winners that I cannot wait to share with you. Prepare to be amazed. Ooh and ahh over the names. Slap the owners of said names on the back when you see them at school. Maybe get their autograph or something. I mean seriously. You really might be able to say that "I went to school with so-and-so" and others will look at you in awe in a few years. So be prepared. Download. Read over it. Peruse. Enjoy. And congratulations again to those who are moving on to Nationals, like Samantha Shelby.

Walkathon April 29

My dream car is a 1972 International Harvester Scout with large, mud grabbing tires. No joke. But the only problem with said Scout is they leave a bit to be desired in the air conditioning area. And living here in the South, air conditioning is a must. It's not an option.

Now, let's take our imaginations on a wonderful walk in the park. Imagine if you will, a field trip in August or September, or April or May with 88 students on a bus after a long day playing outside in the hot sun. Or a ball team headed back after a grueling game of baseball in all that wonderful southern heat.

You feeling it? You feeling the sweat pouring off those kids? You feel the stickiness of the skin on the back of the vinyl seats of an un-air-conditioned bus? Is your imagination strong enough that you can smell them? Seriously, I'm about to have a panic attack just thinking about it.

You see where I'm going with this, don't you? We have a need. This year, our Walkathon goal is to raise enough money for an 88 passenger bus. One with air conditioning. Because you know. Those seats. The smell. Just the ew of it all.

Be on the lookout for more information coming your way. Read the inserts, get all the information, see what the incentives are and join us on April 29th for our annual Walkathon.

Spring Break, March 28th - April 1st

I'm telling you, these kids can smell that the end is near, and well, to be honest, it kind of makes them a little crazy. The teachers too. The whites of their eyes are whiter. Maybe their nostrils flare a little more than usual. I don't know. It's kind of hard to describe but with only 36.5 days left of school, we need a break or people will go crazy. As in certifiable.

Spring Break is almost upon us. Do you have plans yet? Are you going to bury your toesies in some soft sand in Florida? Are you going to go kayaking at the Hoover Dam? Or are you going to chase the snow and go on an Alaskan cruise?

Whatever you decide to do, enjoy yourselves because there will be no preschool, no school, and no latestay from March 28th to April 1st. Really. I'm not kidding. There will be zero. Zilch. Nada.

So make those memories. Take lots of pictures and come back to school on April 4th refreshed and ready to conquer the rest of the year because there isn't much of it left.

Achievement Testing

There's really not a whole lot I can say about Achievement Testing that I haven't said already. Be here, bring your pencil, bring a snack, and have a great attitude to knock this out of the park.

Oh yea, there's one thing I haven't mentioned. There aren't any excused absences. So yea. That's a thing. You can do it. I believe in you!

Lost & Found

By the looks of the lost & found bins, there are several kids that are missing entire outfits. As in, jackets, shoes, belts, shirts, pants, skirts, and lunchboxes. And probably other things at the bottom of the bins that I haven't found yet. Oh goodie.

In an effort to reunite some kids with their items, next week, as in Monday through Wednesday, we're going to have another lost & found sale. Because you know how it is. You're going on a trip and you kind of want your children to wear both shoes, right? Or am I the only one who does this...

101 Random

  • I'm a natural sleeper. I can do it with my eyes closed. (In the words of Fozzie Bear, wocka wocka wocka)
  • Think of a number between 0 and 10. Add 32 to it. Multiply the sum by 2, and then subtract 1. Now close your eyes. Dark, isn't it? (Got you. Admit it.)
  • Can you decipher this phrase? Eight Wean Gull Any Size
  • What about this one: Make Seek Goes Seedy
  • And lastly, Canoe Key Pace He Grit (come into the office and tell me what any of these were for a piece of candy. Only one candy per person because y'all are smart and I run out of candy fast.) :)
