Report Cards
Report Cards. Some kids love them, others pretend they never got them. Without fail, my brother would lose his. On purpose. Me? I was the annoying little sister who really enjoyed report cards. Don't worry. I've apologized to my brother for all my irritating quirks when I was little. I think this is why he lives in Arizona (or was it California? He didn't give me the address.) You know what makes all this worse? Besides it being a true story, my brother has zero humor. As in Z.E.R.O. and I seem to have all of it. I honestly do not know how I made it to adulthood.
Anyway, report cards are coming out Thursday. That's tomorrow. So tomorrow will either be a, yay, I got my report card, or it's, oh snap, they already emailed it to my parents kinda day. If you didn't get one, check with your teacher because that means there's missing work that needs to be completed.
If you received a paper copy of your report card, (K5 through 6th grade,) please sign it and return the envelope to your teacher. If they were emailed, well, good for you then!
Spring Sports, Forms, and Fees
I have three lists in my office and I'm fairly confident there's some upstairs as well. These lists have names on them. No, they are not the National Power Burper Association try-out sheets. That's not the skill set we're looking for. It's time for spring sports to well, spring.
If your name in on one of these lists, I need you to do a few things.
- pay your sports fee before we have to hunt you down and threaten you.
- make sure you have a current physical, 2 consent forms, SCA, and handbook forms all on file in the elementary office.
- be at practices. You know the times.
Spring Forward, March 13
When you think of spring, do buttercups and birds come to mind? Do you start making sure you're close enough to a tree to benefit from shade whilst not being directly under said tree because, you know, you just washed your car? And we all know how birds love a clean car. It's like the bird family is flying overhead and baby bird, who has just learned to fly, announces that well, the worm didn't quite settle in his stomach and he's got to go. I imagine momma bird, who is anxious to be done with the whole trip says, "Hold it until you see the next clean car."
This is how my brain works, people. In case you've ever wondered. What should have been a quick and easy,
"Hey, don't forget to set your clocks forward March 13th" has suddenly become fraught with tension and bathroom jokes.
Welcome to my life. It really doesn't get any better than this.
State Fine Arts
March 24th and March 25th
What can I say that I haven't said before? March 24th and March 25th are the days set aside for our District Winners to face off against other students to see who has the stuff. There will be many things going on here on the 24th and 25th. But there will not be school. So, if your child is not participating in State Fine Arts, you don't have to be here. Stay home. Sleep in. Be free.
If you leveled up to the State Level, be here. Be prepared. Be confident. You've made it this far. You can do this. We're rooting for you.
Spring Concert, March 21st, 7 PM
Remember when we would have our annual Spring Concert and you'd have a chance to come around and buy some homemade goods like cookies? (Which are my favorite, if you're wondering. One year when my mom asked what kind of cake I wanted, I asked for (and got!) cookies. It was a marvelous year.)
Well you're invited to come out and join us for our Spring Concert, sans bake sale, (that's a fancy way of saying there will be no bake sale. Wanted you to be prepared. Don't expect cookies and cake. It won't be there.) March 21st at 7 pm in the church auditorium.
Want it to feel a little more like old times? Come early to look around. But instead of buying baked goods, you'll have a chance to see what some FRCS students will be presenting in State Fine Arts on the 24th and 25th. You won't want to miss it. We have some extremely talented people here.
State Fine Arts & Spring Break, March 24-April 1
I'm wondering if I should separate these and make this two articles instead of one. I get it. I'm wordy and you don't have time. So I'll try to summarize. Because some of this I've already said before. But I have a new keyboard that makes cool sounds so I'm willing to say it again.
State Fine Arts is March 24th and 25th. If you leveled up in District, you need to be here and ready to go at your allotted time. Do not make us panic. We will hunt you down. We will be fussy. It won't be pretty.
If you are not participating in State Fine Arts, you do not need to be here. You do not have to report for duty. You may stay home and vegetate or percolate. Whatever. If you show up and you shouldn't have, that's when we will panic and again, it won't be pretty. Don't do that to us.
- Preschool will be open. I repeat. Preschool will be open and late stay will be an option on March 24th & 25th.
- Spring Break officially starts March 28th and goes through April 1st. No this is not an April Fool's joke. This is legitimate. School resumes April 4th and your lunch orders are due on the 3rd.
Achievement Testing
You're going to love this one. April 11th through April 14th, we will be doing Achievement Testing. This is where we here at FRCS take these neato scantron tests and fill in all 900,000 of those circles with a #2 pencil. Fun times.
Ok, so maybe not that many, but if your hand doesn't feel like it's falling off at the end, you missed a circle. There's a couple things you need. Here you go:
- be sure to actually be here on those dates
- #2 pencil with an eraser
- snack
- scrap paper for the math portion
- a great attitude
