It's Coming to an End - 10/15
We've been at this for the past 8 weeks. You know what that means? Well, besides the fact that some of us seem to be going crazy (I won't name names. You can tell who it is by the crazy look in their eyes) the 1st quarter is coming to an end. So yea. That's a thing. We have managed to make it this far into the school year, and what a year! It's been pretty awesome and if I had some, I'd be giving out gold stars to teachers and students.
Time to make sure your assignments are turned in, your tests have been taken, and that you're all caught up because at the end of 9 weeks (October 25th, to be precise) there's this thing called Parent Teacher Conferences where your parents come in and talk to your teachers about you.
So let's make this a good conversation this first conference, shall we? Yes. That also should be a thing.
Pancake Breakfast - 10/15
So this is new. Pay attention. Ahem. I would like to inform you that...(drum roll please) the FRCS Athletic Department is hosting their very first Pancake Breakfast on October 15th! (How. Awesome. Is. That?!)
Parents, next Friday, October 15th, you're invited to share a pancake breakfast here in the commons at the school with your child. Simply fill out the form, (as in all the information), hand it into the office, and prepare to have some of the best pancakes in your entire life. Yes. You heard it here.
Not sold yet? Well, hang on because it gets better. This event, sponsored by Goodness Gracious, will have your mouth watering the moment you walk through those doors.
Haven't seen your form? Tossed it into the trash because you had no idea what it was? That's fine. We have extra in the office. Because that's how we roll. Or you can download and print one right from HERE. :) See you there!
Report Cards - 10/21
Why do we have report cards? I mean, what do we use these for? Is there really a purpose? Isn't everyone a winner anyway? Aren't we supposed to not be so judgy judgy?
Well, yes and no I guess. Report cards are important. They tell you things like hey mom, I'm struggling with reading, but man, I've got some mad math skills. Or, dad, by the looks of this guy's report card, yea. He's probably going to make it to the moon one day. Or Mars. Whichever.
Report cards give valuable insight into your child's progress here at FRCS. With a glance you can see what things are causing a little bit of struggle and which things your child is doing well. This is a way for you - and us - to gauge success and to prepare your child for their future.
Because that's what we should all be working toward anyway, right? For your student to be a meaningful, beneficial part of society when they graduate and not a burden with their hand out for a free ride.
Report cards help you. They're not judgy judgy. Think of them more like clues into your child's day and brain activity. And you know what? Save them. Don't throw them away because who knows? One day you might want to use them as blackmail.
So, when K5-6th graders bring their report cards home in that yellow envelope, we need you to open it up, read over it, sign and send the envelope back into the teacher. Why do we do this? So we know that you know and your child knows that we know.
Harvest Festival - October 16th
It's still going on and you're still invited to attend. Register at https://frbc.ccbchurch.com/goto/forms/72/responses/new and we will see you there!Mums
Mums are still a thing, so if you haven't picked up a mum yet for your mom, dad, co-worker, grumpy boss, or even that really nice bagger at Publix who always helps you load your car with groceries and doesn't judge you because of the tofu, here's your chance.
Stop by, see what we have, pick out several mums and come inside the office to pay (cash or check). It's that simple.
Abby Candle Time
It's Abby Candle time here at FRCS! Any day now, like as in, any day, you should be getting some information about Abby Candles. Sale starts now and ends October 26th.

Tidbits
- Women lose more hair in the fall. (So don't say anything when you notice that I'm wearing a wig. It's just me. Going bald. Because it's fall. No biggie.)
- Apples, peaches, and raspberries are all part of the rose family. Which is kinda cool.
- There are more mini-Lego figures than there are people in the world. And I've stepped on quite a few of those hurtful little things. Have monsters in your closet? Throw a box of those on your floor and wham! Problem solved.
- A snail, like my husband, can sleep for 3 years.
- There are more than 70 species of mushrooms that glow in the dark. Just going to throw it out there that if I ever looked out my window and saw glowing mushrooms, I would not admit seeing them to anyone. I would pretend to be blind.
- What always asks but never answers? an owl
- What tastes better than it smells? your tongue
- What can you hold in your right hand, but never in your left?
- What can you catch but not throw?
- What kind of band never plays music?
