 1st Quarter Ends - 10/15

Can you believe that we're already talking about being halfway through the first quarter? As in this Friday. Tomorrow. So make sure you don't have any missing work, missing tests or quizzes, and that you've tried this entire time to do your best.

Because you will be getting your report cards October 21st if you have everything done and turned in. If you don't, well parents, that means there's something incomplete for your student and we need your motivational help.

Remember, K5 through 6th grades will get a report card in an envelope. (Parents, please sign and return the envelope to the school. This envelope will belong to your student for the rest of the year. It needs to make it all the way through.)

7th-12th graders, you will be getting an email with a link. Please click that link and download/print off your report card as it will expire after only a few short weeks.

Harvest Festival - October 16th

It's right around the corner. As in this Saturday. Festivities start at 4:00 and end at 7:00. So sign up https://frbc.ccbchurch.com/goto/forms/72/responses/new dress up, and we will see you there. Be prepared to have a *wonderful* day and make memories that last a lifetime!

PTC - 10/25

Parent Teacher Conferences are October 25th. Parents, if you've been a little concerned about Susie's schoolwork, if you've gotten a little more contact with the teacher than you'd prefer, or you have no concerns and just want to chat about how wonderful your child is or the weather, clear off some time and make an appointment with the teacher. This day is set aside for you and your student to help them succeed this year.

It's a great way to make sure everyone is on the same page.

TAACS Cross Country Results

Exciting news here so pay attention! Last Monday, the Varsity Boys and Girls Cross Country teams brought home the TAACS state title making it the third year in a row to win these awards. Which is more than a little cool. That's just awesome.

Lauren Scott placed 1st, Anora Golden placed 2nd, and Emily Hernandez brought home 3rd, while Tripp Walker (yea the tall guy) won 1st and Isaac Spencer took 3rd for the boys.

So when you see these players, make sure you give them a high-five and don't challenge them to a race. You're gonna lose. :) Congratulations to both teams!

Abby Candles

If you haven't reached out to your favorite 11th grader, now is the time. Check out the catalog loaded with lots of goodies and get started on your Christmas list. Sale ends October 26th.

 October Birthdays

Miss Harris - October 4th

Mr. Stanczak - October 7th

Mr. Lyles - October 16th

Mrs. Parson - October 21st

Miss C. Lott - October 26th

Mrs. Fuqua - October 30th

Today in History:

  • 1651 - Laws were passed in Massachusetts forbidding the poor from adopting excessive styles of dress. (So glad I'm not in that time. Pretty confident I would be the one always in trouble.)
  • 1773 - The East India Company's tea ships' cargo was burned in Annapolis, MD. I wonder if that's how hot tea was discovered? (wah wah wah...)
  • 1912 - Theodore Roosevelt was shot in an assassination attempt. The papers in his inside pocket saved his life and he went on to finish his speech. (That must have been some speech!)
  • 1947 - Chuck Yeager broke the sound barrier flying an X-1 rocket plane. (And nowadays, some of us try to duplicate that with their cars.)
The Jokes:
Last Week's Answers -
  • What can you hold in your right hand, but never in your left? your left hand
  • What can you catch but not throw? a cold
  • What kind of band never plays music? rubber band
This Week's Riddles:
  • What five letter word gets shorter when you add 2 letters to it?
  • With pointed fangs I sit and wait; with piercing force I crunch and wait, grabbing victims, I show my might; physically joining with a single bite. What am I?
  • I'm always hungry and will die if I'm not fed. If you water me, I'm dead. What am I?
Know the answer? Figured it out all on your own? Come into the office and tell me and I might give you a candy. :)

I didn't see very many wet eyes Monday morning, I didn't hear screaming and gnashing of teeth (yes, I'm talking about parents), and I didn't have a bunch of kiddos in my office asking for medicine at 8:05. I'd say that was a win win and another win for the start of a new school year! But, as with anything new, it can take just a little bit to settle into a routine. And ...
