Have you Ordered your Mums Yet?
Attention! The mums sale ends September 20th so be sure to get your orders in ASAP. Haven't ordered yours yet? Go to frcsminutemen.com/mumorder on your phone or your desktop and fill out your choices. Don't want to do it online? Welp, stop by the office and talk to me and we will see what we can work out.
Want to feel all high-tech and show your friends and neighbors you know how to use a QR code? Here you go:
Want to decorate your front porch in one fell-swoop without stopping at another place for pumpkins? I'm about to make your day.
On pickup days, (the 21st @ 2:30-4:00 pm and the 22nd @ 7:30-9:00 & 2:30-4:00 pm) there will be a variety of pumpkins for you to choose from. Looking for one tiny pumpkin to fill that little spot on your table centerpiece? We'll have one. Want a pumpkin tower to wow your neighbors? Yea. We'll have those too. Prices vary from $1 to $32, so I'm pretty sure you'll want to have your checkbook with you.
It's Fall in Tennessee!
Fall is here. I thought you'd notice that with our annual mums sale, but with it being almost 90 degrees this week, I can see the confusion. I myself am trying to maintain a positive attitude. But you know what that means, don't you? One day, you're going to bring your little sweety into school without a jacket and WHAM. Tennessee is going to throw you a curve ball and the weather will drop drastically within minutes.
So please. Make sure your child has their jacket. One of the saddest things I have to deal with is a student who is sitting in the office waiting for his/her class to come back inside because they couldn't go out without a coat.
Don't do that to me. Please. It's not good for me.
Next Step When Someone in Your Home is COVID Positive
No one wants to make that call. I'd put that right on par with "Hey I threw up and this is me preparing you for what you're about to see when you go into the restroom." Ok so maybe that's a little dramatic, and graphic, but still. When you get sick, what exactly are the steps? Do you just hang out at your home for 10 days and hope we know what's going on? Uh no. That's not a good idea.
If there is a positive case in your household (not the neighbors. I know some houses are close, but that's pushing it), please let the office know. As in, hey, yoohoo, you're not going to see us for the next little bit. No, we're not keeping tabs on who has what when and where, we're actually behind the scenes collecting schoolwork, books, and coordinating pickup times for book retrieval. You know. We're doing stuff.
Because I'm positive (pun not intended) that you don't want your sweet little Jonny to be bored out of his mind. We all know what happens to mom and dad when the kids are bored.
This is us helping that not happen. You're welcome. :)
Harvest Festival - October 16th
Last year, it wasn't a thing. It wasn't even on the radar. Well, it kind of was, but we all knew. Maybe we just didn't want to face the facts. But this year it's a GO! And this is your official invitation to come to the Franklin Road Harvest Festival!
Things kick off October 16th at 4:00 at the church. (You can't miss it. This is one of those times where you follow the crowd.) Be prepared though. Make sure you bring a bag to carry all the goodies those kiddos will be getting. Because there will be games, prizes, and candy galore all in a friendly, family -oriented atmosphere.
Sign up at https://frbc.ccbchurch.com/goto/forms/72/responses/new and we will see you there!
School Calendar Change
Have you checked out that big red and white school calendar you received in July? Have you adjusted your visits with grandparents, aunts, and uncles so everyone can be blessed by the upcoming Christmas programs?
(Are you paying attention? Seriously. This is important.)
1. The Elementary Christmas program for K3-5th grade will take place on Thursday, December 2nd.
2. The MS/HS Christmas program (6th-12th) has been moved to Tuesday, December 7th.
You got it? You sure? Because I really don't want some sweet grandparent to be here on the 7th expecting to see a 4th grader and get blindsided by 10th graders singing Mele Kalikimaka. It's all fun and games until Granny doesn't get her Christmas pictures. Trust me. I'm trying to preserve your Christmas memories.
I told you we would talk about this. Remember? At the beginning of the year I said something about before you know it yada yada yada? Well here's that yada we were talking about.
Have you noticed that it's the middle of the 1st quarter already? (IKR?! I told you this would happen.)
And this is the best time (well, all the time is the best time, but we won't mention that) to be checking your child's grades and assignments on RenWeb.
This is the perfect time to make sure there aren't any missing assignments, missing quizzes or tests, or grades. If there are? Reach out to the teacher and let them know you need a little help.
Sr. High Fall Retreat, Fall Break = No School and No Late Stay
September 30th-October 2nd
And speaking of reminders, remember that Fall Break is September 30th - October 1st. Which means this:
The Sr. High Retreat will be going on. (Yay for you! Aren't you super excited?!)
There is a Teachers Convention at the same time, and
There will be no school on those days. Which means there will be no late stay either. (Read that twice, please.)
So if you bring your child to school on those days, don't drive away too fast, because they're going to want to get back inside the car. The doors will be locked. The lights will be off. No one will be here. Just sayin.
Lost & Found
If you've been here at FRCS for any length of time, you know what's coming. You could probably repeat this whole section verbatim. Well almost. Because I like to change things up sometimes. Ha!
Next week we will be having our very first lost & found sale. Exciting times here at Franklin Road. The time where we make every effort to reunite lost lunch boxes and jackets with their owners. And if we can't locate the owner, we sell them to someone else for $1.
Yes. $1.
So take this as your last chance warning. Send Susie to the bins and have her dig through everything (send along sanitizer, please) and see if she can find that shoe she lost before someone buys it to use in a weird craft project and turns it into a birdhouse or something.
September Birthdays
Mrs. Lancaster, Lunchroom - September 5th
Mr. Solie - September 9th
Mrs. Montgomery, 6A - September 25th
Interesting Dates in September
September 14th, 1966 - the minimum wage was raised to a whopping $1.40
per hour. Can't you just imagine the joy if that had been you?!
Goodness, with a raise like that you could buy an extra, I don't know,
gumball maybe
September 16th - Play-Doh Day - I'm so bringing some to work. I like to make tiny squares out of it. It really weirds my husband out. Which is an extra bonus.
September 17th - Bright Pink Lipstick Day - Yea no. There is no way I can do that. Lipstick always makes me feel like my lips are gonna slide right off my face.
September 18th - International Red Panda Day - I would love to participate in this. Anyone know where I could purchase one?
September 19th - Talk Like a Pirate Day - And on a Sunday. I wonder if Pastor will try this one out? Come to church and find out!
