Seniors

We watched you, taught you, held your hand. We laughed together, cried together, grew together. We cheered you on, tried to mold you and steer you in the right direction.

Mistakes will be made. Don't quit. Get up. Ask forgiveness, dust yourself off and move forward. Always move forward.

Good times will come. Enjoy them.

Bad times may seem like they've come to stay. They haven't.

When blessings come your way, remember that it came from God. Thank Him for it.

When trials come, as they always do, remember that He didn't bring it to stay. He will bring it to pass. Trust Him during it.

Make us proud. Better yet? Make yourself proud. Even better than that? Make God proud of you. Let Him have complete control and you'll never be ashamed.

Thank you for letting us be a part of your life. We will miss you. We're taking our hands off the wheel and turning it over to you. The decisions are yours to make.

So turn off the lights, close the door, but pause a moment before you go.

Hear that?

That was your future calling. Do your best because the days are long, but the years are short.

Awareness

There are many things we've all become aware of. Some people are aware of how long it took the person in front of them to go through the self-checkout aisle at Kroger. Or that a woman had 16 items in the express lane rather than 15. (I am so sorry. It was probably me. There's always at least one thing hiding under or behind another. I did see you counting and I truly did feel terrible but not bad enough to take everything back off and go to another lane. I know. I'm so selfish.)

I mean, you have the well-known ones like, New Year's Day (everyone knows that one), Christmas Day, and National Cat Day on October 29th. (Don't pretend you didn't know that. I know the truth.)

This week is Teacher Appreciation Week here at FRCS and you don't have to bring a thing in. Nope. You're not required to. You don't have to buy them a coffee, bring in doughnuts, not even a big, thick cookie from Julia's bakery.

But you can if you'd like to. And you can even come inside and leave them a cute little sticky note on the bulletin board out in the gym lobby. We won't say a word, but it probably would make their day shine just a little brighter. :)

Did You Notice?

When was the last time you came into the elementary office? Did you notice anything new in there on the counter? If you didn't, please make an appointment to have your eyeballs checked because it was pretty big and shiny.

For those of you who think I've lost my mind, you're not wrong. I may be lacking in a few vitamins. Anyway, let's take a moment and congratulate the Boys and Girls Soccer teams who placed 2nd at State (insert cheering and clapping of hundreds of people here please.)

And a hearty woop woop goes out to Ellie Kate Baxter, Kaytlin Courtney, and Anora Golden for making the girls All-Tournament Team, and Maddox Robertson, Josh Stanczak, and Fletcher Lancaster for making the boys All-Tournament Team.

Y'all did fabulous!

Walkathon Reward Day, May 10th

Remember the Walkathon when we took your children out and walked them around the parking lot until they didn't want to walk any more? Well, Monday is Walkathon Reward Day. Yes, the day where your kiddo gets to go outside and jump around in a large balloon-ish-type contraption until they can't stand it anymore has arrived.

If your student raised $50 (or more), they're invited to join the other jumping-people. If your child's class met their class goal, the entire class will jump for 2 hours! How fun is that?! I'm telling you, staff meetings need to be held in one of these things. No one would be mad. Well, until someone forgot to take off their high-heeled shoe and popped it. Then we'd all be mad.

Parents and Grandparents - you are welcome to come by and watch the laughing jumpsters. Unless you don't have a child in our school. That would make it awkward and weird, and someone would take note of you and ask you to leave.

See you there!

Lost & Found - May 12-14

One time, my grandmother-in-law and I went yard saling together when they came down to visit us. As we were walking away from this one particular house in Spring Hill, she looked down and picked up a green toothpick. Which I thought was kinda gross and a lotta odd. I mean, who goes around picking up moldy toothpicks?

But before I could bring my better half's attention to his grandmother's mysterious ways, she unrolls this thing and it turns out to be a hundred dollar bill.

Yes. I was stunned. No, I did not ask her to take us to lunch nor to put gas in the car.

But you understand what I'm getting at, right? No? Well, that's not going to be the first, and as long as I'm writing these, it probably won't be the last.

The whole point is you never know what you're going to find if you're looking for it. So stop by this week and dig around the lost & found table. I don't think there's any $100 bills masquerading as toothpicks in there, but there are quite a few PE shirts and shorts. And water bottles. There's a gazillion water bottles. And socks. I think the only reason there's socks in the lost and found is because someone with a weird sense of humor in our school thinks it's funny to make me dig around in this type of grossness. I will find out who you are...

Spiritwear Sale!

Do you love sales? Love getting things that you've wanted for a better price? Yea, me too. When I go into a store, I make a bee-line to the clearance rack. And we're kind of doing that this year. The next two weeks, May 10th through the 20th, if you come into the office, you'll see tables lined up outside my office piled up with spiritwear. That's right, we're clearing off our shelves and you're the lucky ones that will reap the benefits.

Had your eye on a hoodie? Like last year's shirt but never got one? Here's your chance. Don't be late and don't be left without one.

Answer to Last Week's Question:

1. John F. Kennedy was the youngest person elected to the presidency. How did it come about that he was the second-youngest man to hold this office? Teddy Roosevelt became president after the assassination of President McKinley. He was 42 years old, while JFK was 43.

2. Often talked of, never seen,
Ever coming, never been,
Daily looked for, never here,
Still approaching, coming near.
Thousands for its visit wait
But alas for their fate,
Tho' they expect me to appear,
They will never find me here.

What am I? Tomorrow

3. True or False? Saturn and Jupiter are the only planets with rings. False - Uranus, Neptune, Saturn, and Jupiter all have rings.

Completely Useless Yet Interesting Tidbits and one Riddle

I don't know about you, but sometimes, I like to change it up. Just to see if you're paying attention. Yes I know. I've been called a brat before. I can live with that title. I feel like maybe it's a term of endearment or something. Or maybe I've just embraced who I really am. ;)

  • You would have to go all the way to 1,000 before you used the letter 'a' if you were writing all the numbers.
  • You just counted to twenty-three to verify that last fact.
  • The opposite sides of a die will always equal 7
  • There was a man in Germany who made a diamond out of peanut butter.
  • Dragonflies have six legs but they cannot walk
  • Frigate birds can sleep while they fly. (I'm confident that I have seen students take tests while sleeping as well, but that's another article for another time.)
I fly without wings and cry without eyes. What am I?
